The stairs are steep and difficult with heavy luggage as there is no lift. The internet was very frustrating as TV comes through internet too I believe. However , the host offered an alternative that was great.

The property was lovely. A traditional Brownstone with many original features. Only 5 minutes walk to the subway.

All went well, great location. I had Studio APT. Exactly what I wanted for this trip. Convenient location in Harlem & traveling around all of the City. My Studio Apt. was on the top floor, OK for me but possibly inconvenient for Elderly or impaired. Host was very accommodating & Pleasant, Building was safe & secure.

It is not that near to downtown so be ready to take ubers especially at night. Also the heating is very noisy every night.

The place was fair enough with its value. It is cheaper than the ones near usual tourist spots, and if you have more budget, might as well take the nearer places so you do not need to use subway that much which by the way is not a pleasant experience of you are not used to it. But if you are on a budget, this will work as there are lots of cheap restaurants surrounding the place, most of it are soul food. Also, the owner was very helpful during the start of our stay as I accidentally left the key inside the place - we were helped immediately to get a spare key.

The heating system. The thermostat for the apartment was in the hallway outside of the apartment and shared with other apartments in the building. Most of our stay another person kept putting the thermostat up at its highest. It was unbearably hot and it was impossible to do anything about it. If we turned it down they just turned it back up again.

The heating was a bit of a mystery. There are some big pipes that are sometimes scalding hot and do not seem to have any controls within the room.

Comfortable flat, good location for the subway into town. Nice facilities.

It was pretty cold (we were there early November) and we couldn't figure out how to turn the heating on outside of the preset window. We couldn't figure out the TV either

The pull out bed was very uncomfortable. Finally found a way to situate myself between the bars of the frame so I didn't wake up sore. Would also have liked a chair or hooks in the bathroom for hanging things.

Very cute apartment. Spacious bathroom. Nice building. Easy walk to subway and to metro north. Kitchen well equipped. Questions were answered quickly. Everything was nice and clean. Enjoyed looking at the apartment buildings and back yards from the windows. Also enjoyed owner's choice of art and decorating style.

Some of the utensils were dirty, and there was a dead roach(?) on the edge of the lowest drawer in the kitchen!! In the bedroom, the lampshade had ugly stains - it did not look good, so I turned it towards the wall. There was much dust on the lamp. The bedclothes did not look fresh, but I found a new set in the closet and changed the sheets.

I liked the location, Harlem, and the quiet street where the pretty house stands. The apartment is spacious, if a bit dark, as it faces the backyard. But the artificial lighting is good. The bathroom was clean. The wooden floors are pretty, with no carpets, which is hygienic, but one must consider the sound.

It is noisy. The nights we stayed, there was constant noise coming from upstairs. Also, you can hear every car passing from outside as it is on ground floor. So if you are a light sleeper you might want to consider it.

Great host - polite and responsive. There is everything you need including coffee and tea. Very clean. Nearby to the subway station. The value for money compared to the other places in the city is very good.

Good bus and subway transport options and close to Red Rooster restaurant. Quiet street mostly- some noisy neighbours in the early hours.

Not the cleanest I've seen, but acceptable. Area is not the most comfortable to walk at night, but public transports are close.

Nice and well kept apartment with AC, fan, kitchen and decent bathroom. For NY standards definitely ok.
