How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

AC unit was a little noisy.
Great location by I80, friendly staff, quiet location, great value compared to other Tahoe properties. Smokey’s kitchen restaurant nearby is great as well.

Bed wasn’t very comfortable and wish the breakfast had more/better options.

I can clearly hear the people talking in the next door which was annoying and disturbing.
Breakfast was great with different kinds of options! Access to free coffee. Room was clean. The location was excellent. 10 mins to ski resort.

When we arrived around 6pm we had to wait awhile at reception before someone came to check us in. We also requested late check-out and the hotel charges for that. We would have appreciated a 30 minute grace period without being charged.
Convenient location to Soda Springs Resort - we took our little one to see the snow for the first time. The room was spacious and clean, which we appreciated. It was also close to downtown Truckee, and close to coffee and the market which was very helpful.

The heater was making too much noise. The beds were also a little soft; not too bad.
Breakfast was really good, more than expected; all kinds of standard options. The room was clean, staff were helpful.

pancake maker always had problems, and last few days wasn’t working at all
very close to the mountain resorts, got extra pillows and blankets no problem, lady that handled breakfast was very nice.

Bed was too firm for my liking, crack in bathroom tile, hot tub was drained and not operating. A little pricey for what you get.

Our single most significant issue with place, and sadly, one that may cause us to think twice before coming back, was the dryness of the air in the rooms. I'm not sure what causes this, whether it's the all-carpeted floor, the heating units or what else, but we did not have very good sleep during our stay. We would wake up several times at night with a very dry mouth and throat. Maybe it's us (both me and my wife), but I don't remember having this issue at other places we stayed at in this region on our previous visits. Certainly, we might consider having to bring or borrow a small humidifier on a future visit.
This was our first stay at this location and on the whole, it was mostly a good experience. The location itself is central and very convenient. The place seemed clean and the facilities were generally pretty nice. Breakfast can get a little crowded, so you may want to get there early to grab a table. The breakfast offerings themselves were your fairly classic fair for an American continental breakfast, though I really liked the nifty little pancake maker machine.

Mini fridge seemed to get hot if you closed the cabinet that it's in, but otherwise worked fine (and wasn't stinky this time around). Hot tub was closed.
We had a much better stay this time (first trip we were in a moldy-smelling king room). Easy access off I-80 and a close drive to grocery stores and restaurants and ski resorts. Kids loved the hot chocolate machine in the lobby. Good breakfast - pancake machine, cereal, pastries, fruit and a hot selection of some sort of eggs and bacon or sausage.
