Rustic would be one thing But zero upkeep and updates is a different story. Carpet in room the room looked like it was from 1940 and last cleaned in 1950 Room was over bar…. Noise until 2:30am No fan in room and no A/C. Very hot Bathroom ceiling covered in water stains and shower had permanent mold Not charming……

Small amount of maintenance can be done (at least in our room), such as replacement of broken and damaged ceiling tiles, and replacing moldy caulking around base of tub/shower. If you have an additional budget, replacement of carpet would make the stay exceptional all year round. My perception is that revenue can be increased once this is done as well. If one room per week can be remedied, the guests will flock!

Amazing location in the center of town. Food at the hotel is AMAZING and reasonably priced. Adjacent to it is a very cool arcade and eatery, great if you have kids. Beautiful architecture as well.

Hotel staff severely overworked. The waitress had to check me in while running back and forth between her tables. There isn't a hotel clerk to check people in. Staff is extremely hard working. If you check in please have patience with them.

    Hotel staff is friendly.

When it was cloudy or raining the TV didn't work. Lights in the room didn't work, towel bar kept falling off the wall, staff kinda fixed temporary till we were gone, noisy and musty.

Location was great, restaurant food was great, could walk to everything we were there to see and do.

I wish they'd invest a little bit more in the hotel part and not just in the bar area. I've been coming to honesdale for over 30 years and I've seen this hotel at its worst and I know that it was under New Management in the past decade. The walls ceiling and plumbing all needs some serious TLC and I would have expected that to have begun taking place. Our first room had one of the old radiators and it was off but still managed to clang so loud that I didn't sleep a wink the first night. We did ask the staff and they were wonderful about switching this rooms. The second room was clearly updated with modern heating baseboards. That said the beds weren't as comfortable as our first room, very lumpy. In the bathroom had black mold all around the tub. Lastly, the reservation says that there are breakfast pastries downstairs this is a bit of a white lie. It was Pop-Tarts in their foil wrappers hostess honey buns and chocolate donuts. Honesdale does have several cute bakeries that they could easily have solicited real pastries from and that's what I would have expected.

I like to the location and the fact that it was a historic hotel. The staff were incredibly accommodating about switching rooms when I had a poor night sleep due to their clanging radiators.

The furnishings were pretty shabby, and three of the five lamps didn't work. The main problem was the noise level from the bar and the stairwell. Probably room 201 should be left vacant on weekends, because it really was a significant drawback.

The staff was super-accommodating and friendly. The restaurant food was tasty. Excellent martini! We enjoyed the quirky feel of this historic hotel.

there were dirty socks in a drawer in the room left there from someone else that stayed there before us. there were bags and bags of dirty towels right across our room in the hallway for two days. I left my phone charger in the room by accident and when called about it, for some reason it wasn't turned into the office, so I never got it back. bathroom was so small, my husband had to leave the door open to be able to fit in it to use the toilet.
