Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt’s a lottery whether you get a nice room or not. No elevator to second or third floor. Can’t get anything done with the staff over the phone. Everything needs to be done in person. Whether the staff are helpful or not depends on the person.
Keep coming back here. Everything you need they have. Clean room, comfortable beds, nice pool, nice pool bar and nice merchandise you can buy in hotel lobby area. Coffee at the front desk.

An idealistic one level original Hawaiian stay amongst the mass of high rises. Great feel, great atmosphere and vibe. We arrived at 7.00am with a 3.00 pm check out and they stored our bags and let us sleep on the pool lounges after our overnight flight

United StatesThe jacuzzi area was dirty. My husband and I went to the jacuzzi a little after 9am, we saw the staff cleaning the pool area well before, and there was so much trash around the jacuzzi that had not been bothered to be cleaned, gross!. The jacuzzi itself could also have been cleaned. The pool was super cloudy, and did not look normal or inviting.

United StatesThe shower in my room was a bit odd, not sure if it is the same in other King rooms. It was a step up and the shower head was chest height. The surfaces in the bathroom + nightstand could have been more thoroughly sanitized, a little tacky. There was also a small gap below the door that let the hallway noises in.
I loved the location of the property + the easy access to The Green Lady. Room was spacious + had a fridge + water kettle. Bed was comfortable.

AustraliaToo much noise from outside guests visiting the indoor club. Patrons from the indoor club were Yelling and screaming and running down the hallway past my room at 1.00am in the morning and woke my husband and myself. When I complained to the staff nothing was done and the disturbance continued. I expected some sort of compensation but received nothing so I’m not happy and will not stay at White Sands again. There is an outdoor bar in the pool area and anyone is allowed to enter the property and use the pool and sit at the bar. The hotel guests including myself did not have a chance to sit at the bar and have a drink & order food. This is so disappointing. I was a paying guest at White Sands hotel but my husband, my family and myself were unable to use the bar area at all not on any day or night as outside guests were given precedence over paying hotel guests. Even though I complained I was dismissed and again no compensation was offered. I will not stay at White Sands again.
The location of the property was ok. The pool area was good. The room was good too. The check in staff were polite and friendly.

CanadaThe only issue I had was not being able to stay longer to explore all of what O‘ahu had to offer.
A great night stay at the White Sands. If you are looking for a reasonably priced (relative to the high quality) stay in Waikiki, look no further than the White Sands. My room was spacious and clean, while the bed was super comfortable! It's easy to say that you'll good night's sleep after a full day of island festivities! You can relax by the pool, having a great time with live music and an onsite restaurant/bar. It's also only a short walk to the beach (I went many times in my short 2-day stay)! There are many restaurants within walking distance and a mall nearby, to find anything else you may need. The staff will also go above and beyond for you! I arrived well before the check-in time, but I was able to store my bags safely for the day allowing me to get out and explore in the meantime. The same after my check-out, as I didn't need to be at the airport until the late evening, but I was able to store my luggage for the day without any issues. A big shoutout to Tony for making my stay a memorable one! The man deserves a raise, going above and beyond for me during my short stay. Mahalo Tony! A bittersweet short layover on the island, but I'm glad I chose the White Sands for my night. I would, without hesitation, stay at the White Sands again!

United StatesThe walls are so poorly isolated that you can hear EVERY conversation from the next room. It is very disturbing especially if the room next to you is occupied by children who cry. It felt like lack of privacy because that meant if we can hear them, they can hear us too. Somewhat strange, I have never experienced that in a hotel. The shower smelled weird at first but we got used to it.
We like the location and the hotel amenities such as the pool, the pool bar, free ice tea during the day and so on. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

United StatesThe only thing I don't understand is that I booked this hotel almost a month before my arrival, when I made the reservation I indicated that I would be staying with my wife and five-month-old child. But no one paid attention to this information and we were given a room on the third floor... There is no elevator in this hotel. When I asked for a room on the first or at least the second floor, they had no rooms available. And in the neighboring rooms, repairs were made in the rooms, which prevented the child from sleeping during the day, and us from staying in the hotel. The strange opening hours of the pool and jacuzzi, only until 9 o'clock in the evening, must have been deliberately designed that way...
In general, I liked everything. The hotel and service are excellent. The location is also good.

United KingdomMy room took two hours after check in time to get ready. I’ve never seen that in my life. The check in is already very late at 3pm and I needed to wait until 5pm to get in. The staff was very polite and offered me some voucher to use at the bar. I don’t drink so was useless. Some rooms are that kind of family room that have a door linking two rooms. That was a nightmare. I was very unlucky with my neighbours and they used to do online meetings at 8am and it felt like they were inside my room. The shower is very small and low, i dont know how a talk person can shower on that.
Good location, big and clean rooms. The swimming pool area is really nice.

United StatesMy room looked a little drabby, I was definitely feeling like this was an updated motel. And the hallways to the rooms mirror that same effect, which lowered its visual appeal. and I don’t know if this was similar in other rooms, but our bathroom smelled like sewer, water, or is if there were pipe issues. There was a very strong stench in our bathroom.
I like the small boutique style of the hotel. The location was great although it’s off distressed street. The staff were great, very helpful, very pleasant. The pool and bar area were nice. And although I didn’t go, they had a hidden adult lounge after hours and I thought that was unique.

United StatesThe bed slopes more on one side than the other and you could hear your neighbors through the vent, which in my case was in the bathroom.
It’s a great location, close to everything. International Marketplace is right across the street, and shopping the next block over. Easy walking distance to all eateries like Marugame Udon, Maguro Brothers, Musubi Cafe and more.

AustraliaThe walls are thin and could hear the next rooms conversations. In addition, the room we had was towards the front of the property and due to the proximity of the DJ/front area, the music seeped through into the room until 12:30/1am.
The beds were comfortable, the location was 10/10 and the rooms were clean.

United StatesIn our room, it smelled like a lot of humidity, since the bath has no vent, you needed to run the AC to dry the air, the shower was weird, and uncomfortable for me as a 6‘1 tall person, since the shower head was like at 5‘8
