How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The front desk staff is very young and at times ill mannered. The breakfast was $30 a day for the two of us, so the next two days we ate breakfast at other places nearby. I found the bidet awkwardly designed and difficult to use - and I'm a fan of bidets. That was disappointing.
This is our go-to hotel in Montevideo and our third time staying here. The heated pool is very nice, rooms are spacious, comfortable bed. Good, if pricey, breakfast. Maids were pleasant and accommodating to our erratic schedule. The travel museum in the lobby is interesting. Great location a block from Plaza Independencia and the Old City. Quiet at night, no street noise.

We would have given this place 9/10 but an incident occurred with taxis. We asked at reception 2 times about wanting to book 1 taxi big enough to bring us to the airport with all our bags, we were advised this wouldn't be a problem and to go to reception 5 mins before (1am) when we did we were advised we would have to take 2 seperate taxis, this felt like a scam , we were charged 45 euro for each taxi when we could have organised ubers ourself for half the price, felt like a scam
The very big and comfortable room, very good shower , very good tv, very good location, very nice indoors swimming pool, good value

Similar to other reviews, the hotel is quite dated and maybe not as clean as it could be. The elevator door opened about 3 inches from the floor. The WiFi was not working. But it’s pretty good value for the price charged.
Decent value for money in a relatively expensive country.

It took the staff a long time for check in, more then 25 minutes and also took more than 15 minutes to check out while the staff walked around doing nothing

A bit outdated facilities, and sometimes there was a smoke smell at the room.
It is located in downtown and was right next to the event I went for. The staff was very attentive and polite.

Free Internet- poor reception and speed. This was a work trip and having a good internet was essential. Not many English speakers among staff.
Room as advertised. Great breakfast- certainly worth the price. The cleaners did a great job - unfortunately, I was not able to tip them as you accept only cash.

Aircon broken in the gym, so it was not possible to use it. Water in the pool was too warm.
It was nice, good eggs, and bacon. Too many sweets, but it's fine. There were good fruits, muesli. Coffee could be better. Would be great there was vegan milk.

For instance, different style of eggs could be served instead of same thing every day!
The front desk people are very good. The breakfast can improve a little.

The hotel is in the old city center, very central. The street wasn’t very nice though. Quite some noise from the drunks on the street outside.
Hotel was good. Clean and big room. Staff was very friendly.

WiFi is practically non-existent (entire hotel, also lobby). bathroom towel holder is coming off the wall. maid is moving stuff and taking the room card away. power is cut without room card, that means setting the time again and again on the alarm clock or watching blinking zeros.
great location that's about it basic breakfast free upgrade (which cost 10 USD more)
