Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe Botanic Sapa Hotel is the greatest accomodation for your stay in Sapa! It is located in a small side street near the city center, so you can reach shops, restaurants and even Sapa station easily by foot (you need to take some steps to the main street). Our room was spacious, super clean and had everything we needed. There was even a balcony with views on the mountain. But the best about it is the hosting family. They are so lovely, kind and attentive people, gave great tips and really helped us making the best of our short stay. Thank you so much for everything, we will definitely come back :)

FinlandOwners are very nice and helpful, they have walked us through all the options available in Sapa, gave recommendations for good restaurants and motorbike rental. Room was nice, clean, albeit small. We were able to checkin early (for a charge of 300K from 7am, until 7am, for 500K), which came in very useful given travel by overnight train, was good to take shower and sleep for a little bit. They don’t charge extra fees for credit card, which is great, even booked our tickets for Fansipan and just added them to the total bill. Location is great, very close to the centre, but quite still, as it’s on a side street. There was always enough hot water for 2.

This hostel is without doubt a gem in Sapa and in all of Vietnam. The hosts top the already high standards of Vietnam by far, both in terms of friendlyness and helpfulness. Late night checkin because of bus schedule - no problem. Next day detailed introduction of the map of Sapa, instant oganisation of a hiking tour and constant updates on the weather on Fansipan. The place is a 100% recommendation.

BelgiumEverything was perfect. Nothing I didn’t like.
- the location is perfect, close to the center, view on the valley and yet quiet - the room and bathroom were very clean - room was spacious enough to open the backpacks and be confortable - air conditioning if to warm and heating mattresses if too cold - balcony with Mountain View - most importantly : amazing amazing staff. We got so many tips about the center and place to eat and each recommendation that we followed was just perfect. We also booked access to the funicular to fansipan through the hotel as well as a 2 days trek with a home stay which was amazing. They even allowed us To leave our backpacks there during our trek and shower when we came back, and manage to do our trek laundry (which was wet due to the rain) before we leave for our next destination. Really amazing place. Would 100% recommend and go again!

United StatesAll good!
Botânica Sapa Hotel was highly recommended to me by a traveler that I met in Hanoi who had recently stayed there. I agree with her that it was a wonderful place to stay. The couple who run it, Van and Ming are very warm and friendly, and go out of their way to make sure their guests are comfortable and have everything they need to make their stay a good one. The rooms are clean, large and nicely furnished. I was very comfortable there!

GermanyWhen you arrive from a long travel day, or come home after an exhausting day of trekking through the rice fields all you want is a clean room, a hot shower and a comfy bed. Botanic Sapa has all of those and a whole lot of familiarity and warmth. Van and her family are so friendly and welcoming, they make you feel "at home" away from home. The heated mattress and strong dehumidifying AC are lifesavers in the foggy and cold spring in Sapa and really make you feel comfortable when you return to the hotel. The wifi is strong and you have your own kettle in the room, so taking a slow day with tea and a movie is also an option. For the sunny days I liked drinking my morning tea on the balcony attached to the room. Van also helped me by giving me a map to the city with recommendations, prices and stuff and by booking the Fansipan train and cable car tickets on the day I wanted to go up and I used their laundry service twice, which was super affordable and quick. When I see a place that has ratings that seems "too good to be true" I am weary, but Botanic Sapa deserves the high rating it has. I have been to Vietnam a lot and Botanic Sapa is easily one of my Top 3 accommodations in the country!

CanadaNothing. I could comment that providing fresh coffee in the morning would elevate this stay another notch.
Our stay at Botanic SaPa was memorable. Despite the weather not being optimal, we still fully enjoyed our experience at this 4 room hotel, which feels more like a homestay more than anything. The hosts (Van and Ming) are simply amazing! Welcoming, informative, helpful, honest and so kind. They did everything for us to feel comfortable; the level of attention is above and beyond, their hospitality is fully genuine. They provided us with great info and booked everything for us, from motorbike, to Fansipan tickets, comfy bus back to Hanoi and great guide for a trek. All we had to do is pay at the end and we felt it was always the right price and whatever they booked was local and connected to the community. Our room had great views (when we had them) and we liked the firm, but very comfortable heated mattresses. Shower was warm and room was cleaned daily. We fully recommend their place, great value and comfort.

United StatesWhen the shower was used, all the floor to ceiling, windows fogged up, and the fan on the AC needed to be ran for quite some time, to clear the moisture from the room.
Van and her husband were very friendly, helpful arranging tours and suggestions for onward travel plans. Their hospitality was awesome and made my stay in Sapa the best! Without them, my stay would have been very disappointing because the weather did not allow for the views. Socked in with fog and clouds.

If you want the perfect homestay in Sapa, look no further. The rooms are recently renovated and all offer a stunning lookout over the mountains, with balconies. In the area are multiple good restaurants to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. The owner couple are just wonderful people who will organise everything you’ll need! Plus they have a very talented daughter who makes the most beautiful paintings ever.

The position of the hotel is perfect, close to the city center but with a wonderful view of the mountains. The highlights of our stay was for sure the host, Van. She gave us precious suggestions and organized everything, including the trekking with a local guide. Last but not least, she and her husband welcomed us with a big smile and we felt immediately at home.
