Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaAll though the rooms are very neat and the beds are comfortable, the outside area with a pool and braai is there to enjoy, but it does not look like the photos at all. The rooms are all against each other, almost like a hostel. There isn't a kitchen where you can make use of a fridge, just the guy staying there who's room you have to enter to get ice. The street is quite noisy, with people walking up and down and making noise. Still a very enjoyable stay.
Rooms are neat, and beds are comfortable. The breakfast was very nice. The manager was very accommodating with making changes to bookings and friendly. We stayed there after a wedding and only arrived at 02:30 in the morning, and it was still very easy to get in and find our rooms, etc.

South AfricaParking is a bit tricky to find as the glass sliding door looks different than the typical parking entrance. But once identified it is a breeze. Will be great to have a "no waiting area" sign on the door as people shop and choose to wait at the door for their lift (with all their groceries) and small children. They obviously are not aware that cars enter and exit there. Otherwise, the parking is safe and secure and remote access only.
The little lounge where one can sit and read books they place there -or your own. Super, friendly staff who served brealfast with pleasure. Sean went out of his way to make each guest feel special and as he promised, he was available 24/7. We got stuck on a farm (after they locked the gate) and we could call Sean to get assistance for us. Way beyond his duty, and he kept following up with is to ensure that we were safely on our way back. Thank you Sean. Safe and secure parking.

South AfricaMy only issue was that nowhere did the details or photos mention stairs. My 80 year old father-in-law struggled to climb the stairs. However the staff was very accommodating. Other than that, all good.

South AfricaAlthough we were impressed with the parking, someone could have walked in with us when the garage door opened. I don’t know if this security feature can be improved though.
Breakfast was good. Impress with the parking facility. Rooms were heated before our arrival which was a definite plus.

South AfricaAthenia Villa was so kind to accommodate our family during the storm and floods over the past weekend. We attended a wedding and we only booked for one night but they offered us to stay until the storm passed and until it was safe to travel back to Cape Town. Thank you so much for the hospitality and making our family's safety a priority.

United KingdomIt was pretty cold in the room due to it being winter - thankfully we had extra layers!
Location in central Caledon was ideal. The car park was big and spacious and secure. The cooked breakfast was nice - staff very friendly. Sean (host) was friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable - great tip about The Barn restaurant for a filling dinner. Extra blankets in the room helped with the winter cold. It was lovely to sit and read on the west-facing balcony in the evening sun and hear the world go by.

South AfricaThe shower was a bit cold for very long. Kind of awkward to stand and wait for the water to heat up. Would recommend the showers have their own geysers. A lot of water is wasted when waiting for warm water.
The breakfast was wonderful! The owner was super friendly and the location is easy to find. I did feel better that the parking was under-roof. My car was safe. I also enjoy the presentation of the room and the fact that we were at the far end of the building, I don't like people walking past my door at 2 am, haha.
