Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaNot all areas are wheelchair friendly. The Red Room restaurant is not accessable for disabled people at all. One would expect that an establishment of the Mount Nelson's caliber and cost should be better equipped

SeychellesBed not very comfortable Noisy rooms, you hear every step in the room on the higher level Drinks in the garden take a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes to arrive To the exception of above listed, service very impersonal, team is detached. No effort in conversing even if you come to the same place for drinks every night, and are served by the same people. Rooms was on DND as husband was sick (which they knew), they called, asked to remove the DND to give him get well amenities, they effectively woke him up and had him get out of bed
Beautiful and very well maintained building with a lot of charm. Spacious rooms. Beautiful gardens and grounds beautiful art collection throughout the hotel Great gym Some team members were friendly efficient and chatty, contrarily to most others (special thanks to Sim, All the concierge team, Shepard, and one doorman)

GermanyService by the pool area could be improved as often we were waiting a little too long and sometimes orders were forgotten.
This whole experience was incredible! Our expectations were met and beyond that we were treated to countless little surprises and amenities. Never have I received these many extras that were also very thoughtful, good quality and true to the brand. Walking through the property grounds in their garden is lovely and the pool area is very relaxing. Thanks to the guest experience manager Adam Lambert we someone to talk to about our stay and they are eager to perform even better for our next stay. All the staff were super friendly and in love with our 6m baby!

United KingdomThere was lot of focus on afternoon tea for external guests meaning that lunch could not be served in the nicest resturant. this did impact the experience. It also spilled over in to the evening as the room was set up for the day time not the evening and there were not enough tables for two outside. for the price I would have expected smart TVs
Lovely and tranquil Excellent staff Great welcome

United KingdomThe air con broke down in our room on the first night, but the staff went above and beyond to try and rectify the situation, and ensure we had a wonderful stay thereafter.
The hotel was centrally located, within easy access to all places of interest. The hotel and grounds were beautiful, with part of the hotel having been recently renovated. The staff were exceptionally friendly and hospitable. The food offering and room service was excellent, as were the hotel facilities.

United KingdomUnhappy with a charge put on our credit card seven days after we checked out for £85.00. There has been no explanation for this charge. All bills were settled in advance and at check out. In addition, the credit card deposit taken at check in has still not being refunded to our card. After several emails and three weeks later, this has still not been sorted out. Disappointing.
The hotel was stunning, the grounds were beautiful and the staff are great.

United StatesI think it would be helpful when booking dinners through concierge if they can let the guest know is the dinner/restaurant will be a 2-3 hour meal. We would have passed on a few places because they were 3 hour lunch and a 3 hour dinner. That’s just too long for us especially with kids. But it’s not the hotel or staff’s fault, only a suggestion!
We will come back! Top of the line. We did not want to leave.
