I was alone the entire weekend I was there. I had to go out a bit for a day, not really much to do on site when alone. The signage of the property from the main road could be made more visible and Bold as the GPS throws you out away from the property.

Went to a wedding and came back at 11.30 to find the lodge locked up. Eventually after 30 min managed to get someone to open up for us. This was despite us advising the lodge before hand that we would only be back at 11.30

The signpost to the property was so faded as to be almost invisible. We turned in the wrong direction on a bad sand road and landed up at a farm gate. On retracing our steps we saw the signpost. It should be replaced.

The breakfast was very poor. The hotel advertises itself as 5 star but the breakfast was around 2 stars. The selection was poor and everything other than coffee and juice had to be ordered from the waiter - even cereal. No fruit was provided at all and only a choice of two pastries was offered. No proper continental breakfast was provided - no cold meats or cheeses. All in all this kind of penny pinching spoiled our stay. The lunch on Christmas Day was good but the service extremely slow and attention to detail not good. Many tables were without serviettes.

The included breakfast has really small portions. I could not eat for most of the stay due to some health condition, except on the 3rd day, where I asked for berries. I got about 8 blueberries and 1.5 or 2 strawberries diced! Even the waiter apologised for the small quantities. Considering I had not cost them a cent the two days before, I would have expected more. And my wife, despite not being a big eater, was always a bit frustrated of the quantities. The wifi was unstable and a bit slow.

The location, the peace, the gardens and the ponds, the service, people are attentive to what you are doing and will for example bring you the mats when you lie on the garden chairs. We slept extremely well, and had an overall pleasant stay.

I had asked for a Balcony room prior to the visit which was confirmed to be received. The room we were given did not have a balcony and we asked to be moved to one with a balcony, the room we were moved to did not have a working air conditioner nor a working TV. There was no service by the pool area, we had to go looking for someone to assist with towels and going to the bar for drinks. For dinner/breakfast, it seemed that there were not enough waiters to serve the number of guests there, however the waiters were doing their best. We had to wait some minutes to get assistance after seating on the tables.

The breakfast and dinner were very good. We enjoyed our stay. The location is beautiful, and the gardens are well kept. The staff was very helpful and welcoming from the moment we got to the parking until we left.

The breakfast was great, had an omelet the 2 morning we were there. My partner had the English muffin and asked for salmon which was not on the menu but the kitchen obliged...guest focused. The location is not far from buzzing Gauteng but it offers peace and quietness.
