Not a problem but just good to be aware that there is a bit of dirt road to drive to arrive at the lodge

Nice self catering place with kind of a private pool as we were the only customers in Nyala lodge. Amazing game drive with the guide and very nice Nyala trail where we saw girafe, zebra and impala

Whilst there's a security guard at night roaming the ground, we stayed in Chalet 3 and the doors fully locked could still be opened by our 5yr old boy if pulled strong enough (x2 double doors, main entry and bedroom. Both slave doors can't be secured properly meaning the master doors are ineffective. This can EASILY be fixed by drilling properly so the bolts on slave doors actually lock them securely). Arrived with a 3 & 5yr old...stayed 2nights...swimming pool was dirty and unusable for kids each evening we returned from safari and ironically was being cleaned on morning we left.

Nice setting, all kitchen equipment provided, beautiful grounds, close to nature and different variety of animals roaming around. Ayonde, our night security, was absolutely brilliant.

In none of the descriptions, we're we told that the water was not drinkable. Although we were provided with 1x 500ml complimentary bottle of water, the expectation was that we would purchase 5 liter bottles from reception. Had we known in advance, we might have chosen our stay differently. There was mold in our bathroom on the walls, that caused some respiratory symptoms over our stay.

We liked the self catering and that we also had a choice yo dine at the dining room. The game viewing lounge was very social and lovely to enjoy in the evenings.

    1. Nobody told us that we have to bring our clean water nor inform us that we can buy water from the Reception area or call for clean water. 2. Our room was not cleaned until we came back from Hluhluwe Game Reserve tour at 6h30p.m. We had to call Reception and only then the cleaner came as we were shot of bath soap and toilet paper.

Quietness and being next to flora and fauna.

Value for money stay and a nice base to explore around Hluhluwe.

The accommodation is a little basic ("rustic"). That being said, it was functional and all in all, good value for money. We didn't mind, but worth noting that the road into the lodge is ~7km of dirt road, and with heavy rainfall, some of the puddles took a bit of navigation that a smaller car or nervous driver might struggle with.

Free-roaming game on the property is always a treat. Viewing deck and hikes also very nice. Nice pool in Nyala lodge. Our unit had ample sleeping space and could easily fit 8 people, with aircons in the rooms a nice value-add.

The dust road to reception was full of massive potholes that had become mini dams after the rains. The kitchen needs updating and some more utensils like salad bowls. The drawers fell off at first pull. The oven wasn't working but as soon as we mentioned it to the staff, they replaced it with a brand new unit.

Our chalet was spacious and clean and the setting was just perfect for a bush holiday. We enjoyed using the pool and sitting on the patio watching the Nyala. We braaied for 3 nights and treated ourselves to a restaurant meal on our last night. Here we got to see the bushbabies being fed. The staff were friendly but special mention to Wanda who took us on a game drive. He made the experience awesome!

Units need to be cleaned properly.

Great location in the Bushlands, ideal if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle. Lovely trails, gardens, and wild life. Nice pool and play area. Plenty of space for kids to play . Ideal for larger families. Self catering units have everything needed. The game drive is a little more expensive than if you book at Hluhluwe game reserve however, does include transport from the lodge to the reserve which is about a 30 minute drive.. dress warm if you are.doing the 5.30 am drive as it is abit of a drive in an open vehicle. Guide was excellent and funny and great with the kids . We saw 4 out of the big five. Thanks guide Wanda.

The restaurant - over priced and under delivered. The food quality was poor, meat tough, strange table set up, all in all not a good experience. Misled on the cost of the game drive - was not informed that we needed cash to enter the game park. Other venues include this and handle gate

The size, the location, the two bathrooms Wanda - an exceptional ranger and guide on our game drive

It was on a private game farm and we saw Zebra's as we drove in. It is very quaint and an easy drive from Ballito as a halfway stopover on your way to Sodwana or Mozambique. They had a boardwalk which overlooks a plain so you can go animal viewing without driving too far. We were able to check in at 10pm and check out at 5:30am (But we decided to leave later after realising how beautiful it was, so that we could do some game viewing before we left, )

The room was dated, I can appreciate that with Covid not much could be done in the past 3 years but the rooms and especially the bathrooms are badly in need of a revamp. Our bathroom had a leak under the tiles. The maintenance team did repair our plug quickly and efficiently which we appreciated very much

The dining and cleaning staff are Bushlands greatest asset, I have traveled and stayed in resorts since the 80's and can honestly say that these wonderful ladies are the best I have ever encountered. And the singing and dancing celebrations 😍

Not lodges fault but neighbours who come to the bush/game farm to have a party, talk loudly, music dancing, playing on kids equipment as adult's just general bad nature behaviour

It was amazing bush experience. Prolific bird life which is why we were there.

I know its Normal in KZN to see a few cockroaches but there were a lot of cockroaches the first night (about 8 big ones) So after killing all of those it was quiet and peaceful the other night. There will be bugs if you keep the windows open and the lights on :)) Also this is SA so expect power cuts and its pitch black so bring a torch

Walked(Nyala Trail) most of the property never saw a Giraffe(like on the pics) and only two Zerbras at night .There are a lot of Nyala and monkeys. This is good value for money .The staff were polite but not overly friendly. We went on a Game Drive which was nice but we only saw Rhino,Buffalo , Nyala ,Impala,Zebra and its about R800 per person R400 for kids under 12.You only get tea or coffee .You need to pay for anything additional.

We stayed only for one night on a stop-over. We arrived very late, but the staff was very accommodation and super friendly. We did not have time to use or see any of the facilities, but our room was comfortable and very clean in a beautiful setting, with wildlife strolling past in the morning during breakfast. Would like to come back and explore the resort a bit more.
