Unfortunately, the dinner was not good at all.The main meal and desert was well below standard for such an establishment! But the below standard food was overshadowed by the facilities and friendly staff!!

The venue was a perfect romantic hotel. They made sure the room was romantic with bubbly,rose petals and candles upon arrival. Perfect leap year Surprise destination for my hubby.

We got there when the venue was hosting a year end function, so we didn't feel super important. I also expected to made felt a little more special, as I did mention to the venue that we were celebrating our 10y wedding anniversary.

From the moment you walk in, it feels like you’ve traveled to a completely new place. They have a very welcoming atmosphere and I immediately felt comfortable when the staff welcomed us. Your experience means everything to them and they will go out of their way to make sure it’s one to remember. We spontaneously spent one night at the castello. A really good decision. The staff was helpful and friendly. The check in went fast and we received a spacious beautiful room with high ceilings, old paintings and a wonderful view to the city. We also decided to get diner at the castello. We had only two choices for starter and main course, but both totally delicious. We were surprised that there were so little guest. We hope for the future there will be more, so it’s more lively.

My stay was too short. My loss

This has to be the most beautiful hotel I've ever been to - and I have to very many. The lighting, the decor, the ambience - everything was PERFECT. If you're a light sleeper (my spouse is), you'll have no noise to contend with at night which is a major plus. Oh...the food was excellent too. Quantity and quality

I did have only one issue with the place. In the evening when I wanted an extra blanket, I could not find any staff and the phone went unanswered. I was cold for part of the night; unfortunately, I did bring a jersey, which I slept in. For the amount of money that was paid, I would not expect there not to be extra blankets in the rooms if the night staff is not readily available.

The next day when the staff had set up a special breakfast for us on the terrace with the most amazing views. That absolutely took my breath away.

Shower door in bathroom leaked.

Breakfast was scrumptious and room was spacious. Ambiance was lovely and gardens were immaculately groomed. A lot of old world charm. WIFI connectivity was very good. Security was comforting.

The electricity went off with the storm and affected our dinner experience. We also had a roof leak in the bedroom from the rain. I must say the staff (cook and service) really really made everything workout though.

The hotel was very beautiful and boutique with very spacious comfortable rooms, we loved the free room upgrade to the presidential suite. We truly enjoyed the staff and service, they really went all out to make our experience extremely special. The food (dinner) was very good.

Coffee machine was not in a place where it could reach the plug. We made Coffee on the floor underneath the desk. Most DSTV channels had signal issues. Restaurant tables were not set properly. Most tables didn't have both salt and pepper. The table wabled/uneven. No soft background music in dining room. Kitchen staff very loud in the kitchen. (Disturbing). Baby chicken very dry. Flowers I ordered was Not kept in water. We arrived at 3pm and the flowers was on the office table without water. The flowers was only meant for the evening dinner. Nobody mentioned the stunning lookout point at the top. We found it by accident and curiosity. Needs proper management on site.

Quality of food and staff to be honest. In such a 'castle' you'd expect top-level service and top-level food and drinks. The wine list is very limited and cheap. The food is not great. Staff is very junior.

Location is great. Beautiful view over villa area of Pretoria. The rooms are spacious but dated.
