    Was a great experience!

On arrival, our welcome at reception was not that great. Although the person on duty was very friendly, nothing was explained to us: where to find what, how the meals work, etc.

The overall experience, the scenery, the walks in nature, the food was great. Will definitely come back as there is so much more to do and see.

Beds could be a little more comfortable. WiFi did not work during power load shedding.

Meals were excellent and a variety was catered. Locality was peaceful. Staff were friendly. The facility had a generator during load shedding. Parking was secure and guarded.

they need to renovate the dining area. Should have huge windows and views of the mountains - not feel like you are in a school dining area. Paths need to be maintained

beautiful location, fantastic walks, good horse riding, great choice of food, staff friendly and helpful. Great value for money. Lovely for families - old and young.

Perfect place to stay for a holiday in South Africa's most important mountain chain.

It was a rustic mountain inn with lots of history. I wouldn't change a thing about the place.

All went well. The property shows its age and the accommodations are not luxurious but we didn't need that. We wanted a comfortable place to stay in the Drakensberg Mountains and that is what we got so we were very satisfied. The hotel enabled us to stay in these mountains which was high on my list of places to see in South Africa so I was quite happy to have discovered and book this stay. The hiking in the mountain is marvelous. Lots of waterfalls, magnificent views.

Being separately charged for the generator - used by hotel during load shedding. This should be pointed out during booking. I don't like extra charges after the fact. Tourism levy's paid in the province is also a pain, especially since the roads are full of pot holes - feels like an extra tax for government officials pockets.

The Cathedral peak hotel enjoys one of the best spots in the Drakensberg, nested between mountains at the end of the road, leading there. At first I though it pricy, but with exceptional breakfast, lunch and dinner included (not to mention 2 tea times) the price seemed quite reasonable at the end of the day. There a many excellent hiking trails starting from the hotel grounds, with a weekly schedule on guided walks if you prefer. The rooms are spacious and the quality of the room is very good. The views are breathtaking and there is a golf course and other activities if one is so inclined. I would recommend this hotel as first choice if you intend to visit the Drakensberg area.

The Standard Rooms could do with an upgrade and maintenance. The maps provided for hiking, could be better written - as it is easy to get lost in the mountains.

The location is unbelievably breathtaking. A real treat for nature lovers. I upgraded to an executive suite, which really made the stay lovely. The executive suite is comfortable and well-equipped with everything that you need. The hotel also has a back-up energy supply, so you don't feel the effects of the rolling power outages. Food is good, a great variety and the staff are warm, welcoming and helpful.

Room was a bit old (but bathroom was very new and clean). Hot water was only available for shower and not bath. Wall was thin and if one has noisy neighbors, you'll have to put up with it. Road in Zulu people village had many potholes and needed caution for driving. Load shedding fee was charged without being told in advance (but considering the situation understandable). Horse riding was cancelled at the last minute without telling clear reasons. Wifi was sometimes slow. Being said this place all off set these faults and we could make unforgettable experience.

Very close to hike/walk trails. Local hiking guide was knowledgeable and nice person. Surrounding nature is just stunning. Buffet meals were awesome (as a foreigner, trying out all sorts of local food was very good). Staff are mostly friendly.

We got rooms that were very far away from the dining hall, pool and sports facilities. It is a large complex. If you are at the far end, it is a bit of a walk to get anywhere.

The hotel facilities are excellent. The golf course nearby is a true gem. The mountains are spectacular.

Paying extra for car parking was a little petty, if you want to charge for parking add it in the room rate. The real sting in the tail is paying for Load Shedding (when the electricity goes out) nothing was mentioned when we checked in that there would be a charge for load shedding. We understand that hotels in South Africa will have to adapt to the current situation again put it on the room rate, after all I assume the money is going in to the resilliance infrastructure of the hotel.

Everything about the Cathedral Peak Hotel is lovely and whary a setting, the food is amazing with an amazing selection on each day we stayed.

The hotel is a little dated and the practice of asking you to sit at the same table for all your meals was a little odd, but neither of these things really detract from a lovely stay.

One of us is vegan and the chefs, especially Fikele, went out of their way to ensure that I had vegan food to the point that they made special things for me at each meal, including baking me a vegan cake! The hotel has a plethora of hikes for people of all abilities from the hotel. The location was just lovely at the foot of the mountains and within the UNESCO Word Heritage park. The rooms were spacious and comfortable too.

All fabulous - I think some of the facilities need upgrading - like the games room and also the SPA was awesome but there are some basics the therapists need to be trained on - like lighting during massage etc. otherwise it was a beautiful experience. Thanks
