Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumSmall thing, we enjoyed our dinner there but it would be nice to know the day before what is on the menu. Now we only knew it was gonna be meat. Our kids are picky eaters and didnt enjoy the pork ribs. If we knew in advance, we would look for a solution. Now we payed for something they didnt eat.
Very friendly staff What an outstanding location and view! Beautiful houses Delicious breakfast Exciting game room Nice pool

GermanyThe lodge organized game drives in Addo & Schotia. They charged parents & children (below 10) the same price. We thought that was quite over-priced. We should have probably better organized that on our own. On the other side: Everything worked well, we did not have to care for everything.
You are far away - basically from everything! Well, WiFi is there but who would need that anyway while staying at this wonderful property in the middle of nowhere? The Chariandra game drive was the highlight - we were able to feed giraffes right within the area of the lodge. The pool and facilities are lovely, the bar is full of great beers, wines and other drinks. The lodges have enough space, are very clean and cosy. The food is 'home made' by 'Mama' - you cannot choose, but you don't have to anyway. All in all a wonderful experience. Would have stayed another night if we had the time.

United KingdomNothing. We loved it all!
1. Location - The location of the lodge is incredible peaceful, being surrounded by the bush. A couple of herds of giraffes live on the reserve, and it's perfectly safe to walk around the reserve to find them. One of the giraffes visited the lodge one night, whilst we had dinner, to drink from the pool. 2. Staff - The staff at Charihandra - Andre, Aidan, the cooks and servers were so lovely and accommodating. Very responsive when we needed anything, even travel advice once we'd left to go to Port Elizabeth. We're incredibly grateful to all of them. 3. Room - Our room was clean, spacious and had provided everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Super comfortable bed. 4. Food - We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the lodge. Dinner is a three course set menu. All dishes were simple, but very well prepared, a decent portion and flavours were wonderful. Well worth having and great value too!

BelgiumThe road towards the lodge if you drive a regular passenger vehicle (gravel, deep holes in the road for ~ 4 kms). We would recommend the owners to provide a map of the domain, including the location of water holes, since there are no dangerous animals, we really took long hikes, but we only saw very few animals. We had to navigate on Google Earth to ensure we did not get lost -worth while though!
Very quiet location in the middle of nowhere. The giraffe that comes into the domain like a pet is a real asset for everyone. Relaxed atmosphere, dinners on the patio of the main building, self-serve bar. We did a morning game drive (2 hours) which was very educational, excellent driver/guide. We fed the "pet giraffe".

GermanyWe had a really nice stay there. The lodge was very nice and spacious, breakfast and dinner was delicious (dietary requirements were always taken into account) and the staff was really welcoming and friendly. You can observe various animals on the property (there are even giraffes). It is also not far from the Addo elephant park.

GermanyYou have to travel to a really bad road until you get to the lodge- be aware of it. Lodges are huge and perfect, just a bit „old“ furniture.
Service was amazing. Can recommend to book a morning drive to feed the giraffes! The reserve and the lodges are beautiful. Dinner and breakfast was also really good.

IsraelI can't remember anything i didn't like about the hotel.
It's one of the best hotels I've ever been in my life! Everything was perfect: our guest house was big with a lot of space, clean, comfortable bed, a nice swimming pool, and also big territory. Food exceeded all my expectations, the level was like in good restaurant. I also recommend to take a small 2 hour safari on the territory of the hotel. It was amazing. We fed the giraffe! There is an entertaining room with lots of books and billiards.

GermanyTiny fact that could be complained about: TV very small and far away from bed.
We were in Chalet 3. Wonderful, huge chalets, block house style, comfortable, big double bed on ground floor, 2 single beds above, but without wall between them and ground floor. Air conditioning, great kitchen, everything extremely lovely and cosy. Bathroom separated by full wall from ground to ceiling. Good dinner and full breakfast. Very nice Pool area - a quiet place in a private game reserve, not more than 7 gravel road minutes from R335

GermanyIn our lodge seemed to have been a bird or likewise that left its bird droppings on the sheets. We only came back late from our Safari so we couldnt fix the problem that night. Be aware youre in nature :-)
Great accommodation concept in a very remote area not too far away from Addo Elephant National Park. Great and super friendly staff, great food and drinks options, nice pool area and our lodge was amazing. You can book a private game drive throughout the reserve, which was a unique experience as we not only spotted Giraffes but also could feed them from super close

United KingdomWow!!! Amazing place. Exceeded our expectations completely. Chalet was huge and exactly like the photos. Views over the bush were amazing. Kitchen had everything we needed. Breakfast and dinner was set meals but all were really good (steak, pork chop, chicken etc). They catered individually for my toddler and engaged with him lots. Swimming pool was lovely. We had a problem with our car and the manager helped us himself which would have been really stressful if he hadn't so we were very grateful. Although we stayed there mainly to visit nearby Addo elephant park.. we were SO glad we did the game drive around Charihandra itself. It was absolutely brilliant!
