Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaNothing, cant fault the accommodation.
The facilities were top notch! All the staff friendly and super helpful. The room was historical but very well equipped and comfortable. a bonus was the fireplace. The dinner was excellent and the 'honesty bar' very well supplied. Excellent value for money and we would definitely stay there again.

South AfricaThe possibility of a later check out. And lastly, the fire wood was too hard, didn't want to take so we were unable to keep the fireplace going. Luckily there were electric blankets on the bed.
The food was exceptionally great and so flavourful. Almost better than the food we had at our wedding venue the night before. Since we were on honeymoon, I asked for some rose petals and for some Grapetiser to which no extra costs were charged. Exceptional overall.

South AfricaUnfortunately the roads where not good but this was due to excessive rain before our stay. This would not stop me from staying there again.
This an excellent venue for family gatherings with ample accommodation and space for children to play and have fun. Obviously also excellent for smaller groups or couples/individuals.

What a lovely peaceful farm to stay at! Very spacious area with all facilities you could wish for. The breakfast and dinner we had were great, freshly cooked and so convenient if you don’t want to cook yourself. There is a bar as well to enjoy a drink with other guests. The dogs and cats were amazing to have around! They are always ready for a hug. The beds were super comfy which we appreciate even more after an overnight hike in the mountains. Thanks a lot for this wonderful stay!

South AfricaNot having enough Sunlight liquid in the kitchen!
Absolutely beautiful scenery and charm. We loved the dogs and the cats (the border collie came and slept on our bedroom floor - we were very honoured), lazing on the verandah together, getting stuck in the mud and having to be hauled out by our hosts (thank you, again), walking and the glorious light of the near-Berg.

GermanyAfter booking we were informed that the road was very bad due to heavy rains. We made it, other guests got stuck and had to be towed. So better to go with an 4x4 when it was raining. Also it was clear that it is a farm with pets, the cats had taken up residence on all the seating. Fly catchers were set up, but there were still more than enough. We were offered a rustic room with a tub, on the question whether there is also a shower, we were led to an outside shower. That was too rustic for us. In the end we got a large bunglaow. The sanitary objects were modern and fine, the cushions on the seats should be renewed once, the lid of the kettle and the lever of the faucet in the kitchen are broken. There was no soap or anything in the bathroom and also only one serving of coffee. Some buildings are in poor condition or are being renovated. The entire pool area is aging and not well maintained or cleaned.
I have to admit, I was a bit shocked at first, but then came to terms with it. But in the end the value for money is right and there were - besides us - only 2 other guests there. The bungalow (The Barn) is spacious and very quiet. The farm is far away from the main roads, accompanied by two dogs we took a long walk. The dinner was very good (vegetarian) as well as the breakfast.

NetherlandsDriving to Dalmore you will encounter about 7kms of dirt road, on most dry days this is no problem at all to cross even in a normal car (sedan) but unfortunately in our case there was a torrential downpour which made driving through this road impossible. Fortunately for us the local farmers were patrolling the roads helping those who were stuck - in all fairness Pippa did message us in the morning warning us of the road conditions, but we missed that message.
Dalmore Guest Farm is the perfect place to enjoy a technology detox. It is nestled in the heart of the Drakensburg mountains with the beautiful berg surrounding your view. You get to enjoy nature and a serene quite that only a farm can provide. The chalet was spacious and comfortable. Pippa was a gracious host and was in constant communication with us to ensure our stay was as comfortable and pleasant as can be. The farm property is beautifully maintained and walking along the farm lets you connect with your surroundings. Amenities are good with an honesty bar, a pool and plenty of walking paths. The cell coverage is limited - which is a great way to just put your phone down and enjoy the moment. In the evening the staff helped start our fireplace keeping our cottage nice and cosy, what an awesome touch. The star of the farm were the pets Cody & Wilson who took it upon themselves to be our chaperon during our entire stay. I can only praise Pippa and the staff at Dalmore for having a guest house that is just perfect weekend getaway
