We asked for the free airport shuttle to pick us up in the evening, but instead they booked us a private transfer which we had to pay for. We checked and the shuttle was running so this was disappointing as the free transfer was why we chose the hotel near the airport!

On arrival we were given the wrong room twice. That could just be ‘one of those things’ but when we went straight back down the first time all they said was ‘have you used anything in the room’. No apology for the mistake just that demand which was weird because a) we had just been given the key and b)there was no mini bar to use. So not a welcome arrival. The air conditioning was poor with little cooling at any setting plus it brought in cooking smells. The hotel provided shampoo but no shower gel. The room was small and tight to move in so beware the skills of photographers trying to make a room look more than it is. Breakfast was ok but considering the quality of food we had travelling through South Africa this was to least compelling offering. All that said though this was the cheapest place we stayed at during our trip and was better in many ways than more expensive rentals.

Despite the flowery language of their website the metcourt is a basic hotel. That doesn’t mean it’s not nice enough it just fairly simple in its offer and its environment. Its location close to the airport was the draw (not interested in gambling) coupled with the choice of restaurants at the Emperors palace and the courtesy shuttle and all those priced to be good. Interestingly the towels were something we raved about as they were big and reasonably thick unlike many of the thin and small offerings everywhere else. The shower was clean and a reasonable pressure too. Effectively you are in a gated arrangement with controlled access so you feel safer than you might in the centre of Johannesburg.

I have been stolen my phone in the shuttle, I send email to hotel telling that to ask driver because I suspect him was last person in the shuttle but no reply until today and gone 20 days now

Some toiletries were missing so i had to call room services twice, but they come quickly to help you - service very good. The air con wasnt working on the first night even though the technician tried to fix it, However was sorted the following day. they also came very quickly to help The floors were a little dusty under the beds and under the carpet rugs. /carpets next to the bed seemed very grundgy and "sticky" as if they could do with a good scrub. I wanted to roll them up put them under the bed hence saw the dust etc . Otherwise linen and everything else nice and clean.

Beds very comfortable. Breakfast was great. Service and staff very friendly, helpful and quick to help. I always enjoy my stay there. Feel very safe and so convenient to get a free shuttle to and from airport every half hour. That is a real win, not to have to find taxi or uber.

We arrived at the hotel around 10:30pm and needed food and no restaurants were open and willing to let us eat. We needed new bedding at 11:30pm and there was no staff able to assist.

The water in the shower was very slow and only a small flow came out.

We requested a baby cot and loved the fact that it was provided with bedding aswell. Our room was clean and comfy. After a very long day it met our expectations and we could just relax and watch movies.
