The dinner service was a bit slow - the length of time between courses was too long. The menu was also reduced vs the menu I had in June and what was on the website.

The breakfast was great and probably the best croissants that we have ever had!

The room facilities were quite dated, everything worked however you can see the age of the fittings. Some of the fitting were painted to improve the look and the workmanship could be better. For the price you pay one would expect a little more from the finer details.

Great breakfast and the service was impeccable. We thoroughly enjoyed the the service from staff. The gardens and location were absolutely amazing, couldn't ask for a more beautiful setting.

I was on crutches and they made every effort to make sure I was comfortable and that my wife didn't have to do everything for me. Changed our room twice, served us breakfast rather than me going to the continental buffet every time Lovely staff and amazing hotel

The gardener didn’t see us as we approached our room and he was peeping through the bedroom window which kind of disturbed me!

The dinner menu at the hotel gives little choice (around five options per course), which us adequate for a night or two, but the same menu was presented daily. Also, service at both breakfast and dinner was very slow.

The hotel is quite beautiful. The room (an upgrade, thanks for that) comprised a spacious beautifully furnished lounge, large bedroom, huge bathroom and a terrace with loungers, table and chairs. the terrace positioned to have some sun snd some shade throughout the day. It overlooked vines with a view to the mountains. Very peaceful. The hotel swimming pool (one of two) is a good size with loungers and umbrellas - very relaxing. Staff were very pleasant.

The Grande Roche is a dream location! Waking up next to the vineyards, hosted by super staff and the food... Words can't describe! Quality, taste, everything was amazing!

Heritage suite far below standard for a 5* hotel.

first located in a heritage suite, which really was not up to standard (not just outdated but bathrooms unacceptably worn out) we were moved to a terrace room, which was refurbished - this was a great room. Beds in both rooms were excellent. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. wine list was very good as was the advice (thanks Pumlani and Chris!) and the kids loved the kraal pool.

The shower wasn’t draining properly and ran out the door when my husband was showering. We reported it on departure. Hopefully fixed now. The dinner was very disappointing. The main course very small - I had pork belly, my husband fish. No carbs served with it and the vegetables, baby marrow and tomato, a big bowl which was great, but prefer fresh to marinated. The complimentary pates and bread fantastic and the little trio of tomatoes a nice gesture. Loved our starter of crispy deep fried Caesar salad on outside and raw inside.

The breakfast was brilliant, one of the best I’ve had in a long while. Your staff were all fabulous. So sad to see the hotel so empty. Grounds magnificent as is the view from the patio. It really is a unique place. All so relaxing and loved all the candles in sitting room.

The facilities were limited, e.g. the pool was not available for some reason. I missed finding a nice spot to chill, enjoy drinks and take photos outside my room. I think the outside space generally is also a bit crammed.

It was great but also a bit limited. I like a variety of options for breakfast since I don’t eat most of the usual breakfast food.

Great location and stunning views over the Paarl valley, Place was deserted and we only saw about 3 guests during our stay - such a shame! Food was excellent as well.

We stayed in Room 85. The shower in the bathroom was in a shocking state. The grout was brown and black and looked like there was mould growing. Bedroom was ok, but bathroom was not even one star. For R6000 plus per night it was total a rip-off. Staff offered to move our luggage to a different room. As we were out all day.

Beautiful setting was a decoy.
