Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaWhat is there “not to like”… Wonderful!!
A lovely spacious room with fresh flowers, complemented by a picturesque garden & historic homestead/buildings brimming with stories/history. Enjoyed a view of Table Mountain from afar. Breakfast offered a diverse selection, & the management was exceptional, ensuring a comfortable very welcoming experience. Kerry the manager was extremely hospital & went above & beyond, making us feel truly at home. Our stay was simply wonderful! No Loadshedding 24/7.

Isle of ManIt feels a little tired and could do with a bit of TLC - it is clear that a lot of time and effort and money has been put into the property at some point and it has been really nicely done, but it feels like it might have deteriorated slightly since then - which is a real shame as it has potential to be INCREDIBLE! The pool was rather green and we wouldn't have liked to use it. Some of the garden areas were overgrown with weeds and some of the white paint is no longer white.
This is the most beautiful property, it has so much character! The rooms are really interesting and quirky and are all great sizes. The views are great too which is a bonus. Breakfast was really lovely and it's nice to be able to eat in the dining room which has tonnes of historic charm.

PortugalSome things might need touch ups or renovations. The door to my veranda was making a bit of noise on windy days, a chair arm in my room needs fixing
Gorgeous property, even more beautiful that on the pictures. The staff is lovely and very attentive. I doubled the duration of my stay from two to four nights and they were very accommodating. The breakfast is great! The pond is stunning and the sunsets at the property are breathtaking. I highly recommend this place and will be back!

United KingdomMove mirror down in the bathroom. I’m 5ft3. It’s suitably placed for someone more like 6ft. Warm up breakfast plates. Bring breakfast and toast out at the same time. Don’t like waiting for either as one or the other gets cold. I was the only person at the time in the breakfast room so no excuses.
Lovely staff and comfortable room. Historical buildings. Well priced. The gardens have really come alive and looked beautiful.

United KingdomThe setting is amazing. Watching the sunset whilst drinking a glass of locally made Chenin Blanc was a lovely way to end the day. Location to Stellenbosch and Cape Town are perfect for anyone looking to get around and enjoy some of the less touristy areas. The staff are fantastic and make it feel like a home away from home. Plenty of golf for the golfers and good wine all over the place.

South AfricaThe swimming pool was very disappointing given the heat, around 30 degrees. Frogs in the pool and slimy. Black bottom pools hide an unkept pool.
The old antique farm style decor together with the tranquil setting, delicious breakfast and stunning bedroom.

United KingdomThe fridge in the rooms was very noisy and all of us unplugged them overnight. Would be great to have some information on the farm and what to do in the area. as no one could tell me the history of the farm. Nearest places to eat in the evening is a 20 minute drive to Stellenbosch.
We had three rooms in the cottage which has the most stunning garden and views. The rooms are large and we loved the baths! The old Cape Dutch House and gardens were beautiful with views over Table Mountain. Lovely to be on an old historic farm and see the way they've adapted buildings for accommodation.
