Really special overnight stay, the staff were wonderful. Super-good service. Great vibe to the hotel. I felt a million dollars sitting on the stoep sipping a G&T, watching the sun go down. Great breakfast.

The transformation of this old country is completely remarkable. In fact magical. And it has all the makings to become a really interesting destination in the Western Cape. We also love their genuine dog friendliness which included a dog menu either served while we are in the elegant dining room or at the bar… or could be arranged as room service

The hotel is beautifully renovated and the decor is true to its name, The Karoo Art Hotel, it is a piece of art. The staff were really friendly and went out of their way to help. I loved that they take dogs on prior arrangement and even have a special dog menu.

Loved our stay, beautiful bedroom with a great view of the garden and swimming pool. Staff is very friendly and helpful, fabulous atmosphere. Beautifully decorated, with an old world charm. Beautiful outside areas and great bar. Breakfast was very good.

Service was a little slow during the day. The bathroom window (next to the toilet) opened to a back of house space with staff working in it.

Nice location, very friendly and professional staff . Nice menu , shame sometimes you cannot get everything if it is on a loadshedding slot ! Inventive cuisine and nice breakfast too.

More time!!!!!

My second visit and not long enough! I just love the quirky decor and imaginative attention to detail… The rooms are all different and gorgeous and the snowy beds sooooo comfortable. My well-travelled companions couldn’t get over the quality of the food (we had dinner and breakfast). It’s a fabulous Alice-in-Wonderland bolt hole with space to lounge, picturesque corners and wonderful map-room off the bar…… and a small but ACE pool! We so enjoyed the early morning journey up the pass to dip into a mountain stream, guided by Mickey, the local journalist…… Truly a unique night stop! Need more time…..

Dinner was very disappointing and we did tell the manager. We had a mass of mosquitoes in the room and I could not find the repellent. We made a payment through booking.com and paid again when we booked in. The receptionist did not pick up on this. It was a struggle to get our payment back.

Breakfast was fine. Lovely swimming pool for the heat. Very friendly meeting place, the ladies bar. The front veranda is lovely for drinks before dinner.

Beautiful Hotel in the middle of Barrydale. From the moment you step into the establishment, you are greeted friendly and made to feel right at home. It is clean and neat. Beautiful art and antique furniture everywhere. Lots of history. Comfy bed. Great dinner and breakfast! Will be back someday!!
