Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanySo far our best accomendation is south africa. Beautiful big rooms with a big shower and bathtub. The view over the river into Kruger NP is worldclass. You can spot animals from your balcony. The breakfast and the diner were so so good (thx for the boboti recipe). Very friendly people all over the place. We would like to come again!

United StatesAll was good. The pool was nice for a quick plunge, not a pool to hang out at... but rather enjoy the views from the deck anyway.

South AfricaPool wasn't fully clean but under the trees so it's hard to make it perfect. Could have pool towels that would make it even better. My friend was not a big fan of the sandwiches for packed breakfast but that is a cultural thing I think.
The friendliness of the staff and flexibility as well as the overview on the river being able to access the pool on a hot day on arrival. Also the details in the room to make the experience unique. It's beautiful

South AfricaIt's an absolutely beautiful lodge with an amazing view. We received great service from the Lodge Manager Linique. She was warm and welcoming and made our stay enjoyable. She ensured that all our needs were met regardless how extreme some may have been. I would love to go back and hope that the policy changes about having kids around.

United KingdomEverything was perfect.
The pictures do not do this lodge justice, it is spotlessly clean and very luxurious. The owners and staff were wonderful and made us feel completely at home. It is well worth making time to sit and relax on the balcony that overlooks the Crocodile River before it gets dark. We saw lion, elephant and buffalo all in one afternoon and enjoyed all the birdlife over breakfast the next day. Thank you for what is definitely one of the best stays we have had in Marloth.

GermanyExcept for the main road, all the roads in Marloth Park are in terrible condition. We were glad we had an SUV with a bit more clearance. But this is not the fault of the Lodge - nor would it be better at other lodges.
The view! Spectacular view into Kruger Park and Crocodile River: You can literally see hippos from your balcony. We loved the fact that the staff offered homemade and tasty dinner. It saved us lots of time when we were too tired to go out in the evenings after a long day of driving. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Everyone was really sweet and friendly and we got lots of useful travel tips from the owner. The short distance to Kruger Park is also great for early game drives.

EstoniaWe liked everything!
Everything was excellent. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights from January 25th to January 28th. We were welcomed very warmly. Host helped us organize a morning safari and packed a delicious and hearty breakfast to take with us. When we encountered issues with organizing an evening safari that we were handling independently, the owner promptly resolved our problem. Each evening featured an amazing dinner, and we were thrilled. The rooms are very spacious, beds are comfortable, and the shower has good pressure with warm water. The room had a view of the river, where wild animals frequently visited. The owner offered us binoculars, making the wildlife observation by the river even more interesting.

United StatesWe found the food, although not unpleasant and certainly plentiful, to be a bit bland and uninspiring. We've enjoyed far more creative meals with more choice at other lodges.

NetherlandsOnly one thing was negative, we needed to leave... I want to go back!
This lodge is absolutely fantastic! Being a previous vacation home of a South-African family, which has been made available for guests only a few years ago, the quality of the lodge is incredible. From the common room to the bedrooms, this is the kind of place which could be your (second) home in South-Africa which is close to Kruger Park. Located in Marloth Park, just south of Kruger, this lodge is only one of three lodges that has a view over the river. When driving to this lodge this is definitely not what you expect, as it is tucked away in the woods, but once you arrive you will be overwhelmed. The manager (Wayne), who is unfortunately leaving in January, made our stay absolutely perfect. He is very friendly, helping us with everything we need and always available for a nice chat. The rooms are stunning, very spacious and amazingly luxurious. The view from the decks behind the common room, which are next to the private decks of the rooms, is beautiful. During the day and especially during the night you will see and hear various animals. Some even approach the lodge very closely (and are all safe). Saving the best for last: the food. Both breakfast and dinner are incredible. A lot of options and its quality is very very high. The main cook uses her own traditional recipes, and the only problem you will have is lack of stomach capacity. Fortunately she was willing to give us her recipe of the Malva dessert, absolutely perfect!

There is actually one big issue about Kruger Private Lodge. The hard fact that you have to leave it again :-) We didn't know what to expect, but what we got was more than perfect. The hosts Carine and Stephanus welcomed us so nicely and we immediately felt at home. A very special and warm-hearted way of hospitality that both embody. The Room (we booked one with view on the River), the interior,.... simply everything was great. We liked it so much that we booked another night straight away. To be honest, we would have booked another night if we hadn't had to go further into Mozambique. The icing on the cake, the staff, Phindilie and all the others. You were absolutely great. Thx for the best food at Marloth and thank you Carine and Stephanus for having us.

United KingdomNothing to dislike.
The wildlife, looking across The Crocodile River into The Kruger NP is a true gem in Africa. The hosts, are welcoming and friendly also very helpful. The food, breakfast and dinner (available on request) leave you wanting for nothing else. Even the drive in off the tarmac is a joy for game viewing, a bit bumpy but easily driven in any hire car. All in all a pleasure to stay at. Thank you!
