Our suite was nothing but a 'converted' basement which was musty, very badly ventilated and poorly soundproofed..We could hear footsteps and conversations from the upstairs office. In addition, this is the only place we stayed at where the property does not own a generator and has no other energy alternative during load shedding. Very embarrassing. How are you expecting to receive customers without providing such a basic thing as electricity? Also, the towels stank really bad and the house coat provided was not washed after previous visitors as it was also full of someone else's hair. One last thing, we asked whether it was possible to get a packed breakfast due to early checkout and were told that it's not a problem & to our disappointment we left empty handed as nothing was prepared for us, despite the fact that we paid for this with our room costs. We are really not fussy, but compared to other accommodations we visited, this place is a mess! Avoid at all costs!

Unfortunately we had a rather negative experience, therefore the rating. We booked the honeymoon suite number 1 for one night. As we arrived in the evening, the young man at the reception told us, that the suite was double booked by mistake and that we had to take another room with a downgrade (room number 5 in the basement, without a view). The man told us, that we will have a compensation and a bottle of wine. (He forgot the bottle of wine by the way) Okay mistakes happen, we thought its not that bad. The next morning we had to pay for our stay, thats when the BIG shock came. The lady offered us a 10% discount of the price for the honeymoon suite, which was still higher, than the regular price for room nr 5. After that she offered us a 20% discount - STILL more money, than the regular price for the downgrade room, in which we slept. After that we showed her the regular price for room number 5 in our booking app on the smartphone. After that we payed the normal price for room number 5 So our "compensation" was paying the regular price for the downgrade after bargaining for the price! This is very unprofessional and we were very disappionted. We left the facility with a very negative feeling. This is very sad, as the house and the view is very beautiful.

the photos are a little deceptive as this is a small guesthouse not a hotel which is a distance from the main town- so you really need a car as no food available in the evening and no restaurant within safe walking distance. staff not particularly helpful although not rude. we didn’t think it was particularly good value for money compared to other places we stayed all of which we rated 10/10

The glass railing of the terrace was broken on the front. The room was dusty, the towels not white anymore. The staff was not exactly welcoming.

The view and the big terrace were very nice. Also there were vegan options for breakfast.

Air conditioning was broken. A light didn’t work. There were stains on the bed sheeting. The breakfast was amateurish. Staff didn’t know answers to some basic questions.

The shower definitely needs deep cleaning, the blinds in the bathroom are filthy. We were two people, and specified that we needed 2 beds, the second bed didn't have any pillow cases. As soon as we arrived we were informed that the restaurant was fully booked as they had a new chef who was incapable of handling the amount of orders for the amount of guests... which were approximately 10... Wow! Their rules state that there should be no noise after 10pm. At 1am I had to get out of bed to go upstairs and ask drunken guests to stop screaming. No staff to enforce their own rules! We had a 7hr drive in the morning... I sent two emails to La Vista lodge, to date note even an apology. Highly disappointed and disgusted!

The scenery is beautiful, The room was spacious, so was the bathroom. However the room was definitely unserviced.

When we came back from the beach one day, the door to our room was unlocked and wide open and the central key with keys to all rooms were sitting in the room. We walked around in the hotel trying to look for a staff member but when we didn’t find one we left the central keys on the desk in the office.

There are no local shops or restaurants. Everything is closed around 18:00. We had a message to say the restaurant would be open yet it was not. The bar was not stocked and the breakfast was very average. for R5000 for one night we expected a little more.

No back up power. So during planned power cuts there id literally no power. - Guests should be informed of this pre booking or at very least on arrival.

View is brilliant. Food was the some of best we had over a 2 week tour of SA. Staff were friendly

To be honest, La Vista Lodge didn't feel like 4* accommodation, and was more like 3* in my opinion. The breakfast service was very slow (almost an hour to receive eggs with no toast) and there were no backup generators so load shedding between 8am - 10am meant we had no lights on in our room and bathroom to get ready, no ability to dry hair, charge phones, have toast with breakfast etc which we hadn't experienced at other accomodation on our garden route trip. The room seemed clean but the towels smelt like damp, the bedsheet was ripped and generally my husband and I just felt that we stayed in much better accommodation on our trip for a lower cost per night. This said, the location was great and the views beautiful so if you don't mind the minor issues which we experienced above then you will be happy staying.

Views from the breakfast terrace and our sea-view room were fabulous, and the staff were all friendly.

not putting ground pepper on breakfast foods (is on cucumbers, cheese, tomato slices). Omelettes too oily, croissants burned and dry, always wash grapes before presenting them to guests please, loud music at breakfast, unattended front of house. Room could've been cleaner. Guests in room too rowdy at night disturbing other guests.

No emergency light for the 2 bouts of loadshedding during our 12 hour stay. No bath mats. Dreadful instant coffee in the room. Shower door in Room 5 does not stay closed.

house is very old and in need of maintenance desperately. it is not suited to its rating. an upgrade is required throughout. also lacking in bar stock basically everything. seems owner lost their interest or lack of funds. staff are friendly. views good.

The jacuzzi bath did not work, the plug would not stay down. The bathroom towels very small and run down.

All the staff very exceptional, food was superb. Superior Rooms are a good size just needs update
