Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaSome small things - Maybe some sharper knives in the kitchen and more two prong adaptors for plugs. Kitchen sink plug needs replacing but
Loved the layout of the house and the pizza oven was a hit! The private garden downstairs was gorgeous and table tennis so much fun. The house was superb and so many details thought through.

South AfricaWi-Fi wasn’t very stable but that likely due the area which is no major problem. I would suggest some chairs on the downstairs area for people to have a coffee and be close to nature .
I absolutely loved the style of the property. Hosts were very friendly and assisted readily. The upstairs entertainment area is unique and beautiful.

South AfricaA little bit more information on Marloth Park like local shops, restaurants and activities to do near the house as we only found out on our last day there was quad bikes you could hire, to be fair we could of looked it up.
We stayed for an extended weekend. Collecting the keys was abit of a mission however after calling the host found it pretty easy to follow the directions given. A lot of work has been done on it and you can see there are alot of new instalment that have been done. The house is well kitted out and to be honest had alot more than was advised like the coffee machine and more than enough space. As we didn’t really know what to expect we came prepared for everything however tea, coffee and sugar was provided as well as a bottle of wine for a welcome drink when we had been on the road all day it was an amazing touch! A lot of the time we didn’t have power but it understood as it was only load shedding and there’s not much anyone can do about that. It did give us time to make a fire shear stories and look at the amazing stars we got to see.

South AfricaThe accommodation could have been a little cleaner, especially the mosquito nets (stained and full of insects in the main bedroom). Maintenance is needed in a number of areas, such as on the balustrades around the pool and the pipe from the kitchen sink. A design problem is the lack of soundproofing, with noises carrying from bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen . As these rooms aren't sealed off, it was difficult to find privacy when desired.
The location was great - near to the Kruger Park and a short distance from a lookout point over the Crocodile River. The pool and outdoor living area were wonderful, and the lounge very comfortable.

South AfricaThe dirt roads are a bit rough at the moment due to all the rain. I would suggest a higher vehicle as clearance on some of the roads (esp. along the river one-ways) is not possible in a normal vehicle.
We loved the privacy of the location. The main part of the house is on the upper level so it offers a lovely view over the tree tops with a stunning pool which almost defies the law of gravity as it is "upstairs". We fed the wild animals from the balcony. Pizza oven is fantastic and the option of 2 braai's (Bbq's) makes it very easy if the weather is a bit unpredictable. Love the outdoor dining area with the kitchen so close by. What a great kitchen and lounge area!!! No matter where our family was sitting, we were together and within earshot. The entrance to the house is a bit odd but once you see it, you understand why. Fun little game room ;) Lovely bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms (although the second bedroom downstairs is a bit removed from the main house - it allows for light sleepers not to hear any noise upstairs). The location of the property allows for quick access to the main road or down to the river.

South AfricaDidn't see the local host and had to organize the key collection via phone and WhatsApp from the local security office, which was easy enough. So not a big problem. Had to request internet access as it was not working on the arrival weekend and was important for us on the stay, luckily it worked out on time when it was really needed. I have the feeling the security system was not working as well of the house, even if it was not an issue for us. A little bit more basic maintenance of the local host would do the trick for being excellent.
the facilities and the location are excellent, you can see quite a lot of animals strolling around the houses. quite calm and peaceful to allow a good rest. there is a view point to see over the crocodile river into the Kruger National Park where Elephants and other animals come for drinking in the afternoon. Just 20 min around the corner to get to Crocodile Bridge Gate into Kruger National Park.

NetherlandsIt’s clear that no one takes pride in this property, it is in dire need of maintenance, a deep clean and new linens. Basic necessities were lacking (dish soap, trash bags, toilet paper). Very big sign in all caps saying “do not leave dirty dishes” but does not leave a dish washing sponge? Towels felt dirty, bath mats were brown. Cheap quality linen, uncomfortable pillows. Gas geyser was difficult to work with, either the water was too hot or too cold. Not all rooms have air-con and if they do they don’t work well. No view of the river - on the pictures it seemed like you could see the river from the property. No response from property when I messaged them on the booking.com app.
Spacious, nice swimming pool. Animals came right up to the house. Peaceful. Close to the Kruger National park. Easy to find. Easy check in.

South AfricaPool was unclean. No toileteries and no toilet rolls. Although their was lots of candle holders there was no candles or matches to use for loadshedding and Gas stove. Cussions was scattered all over pool area, Door stop lying in the pool , one of the barstools seats were ripped open and foam rubber lying all over the place. Advised the Host at Matloth but their was no show the whole week end.
The house was comfortable and loved the entertainment area with the pool on the second storey. Security was good so we felt safe.

South AfricaWhen there is no electricity, there is no water. In my opinion the property description should state this very clearly. We spent hours of every day without electricity and water (at the same time). The property itself is dirty and neglected. Really run down. The real owner lives in Holland, not South Africa, and the distance shows. The local hosts are sweet and helpful people but they have a difficult job with this property unfortunately.
Marloth Park is great, it is really wonderful to jog among giraffe and kudu. The property had a nice splash pool on the upper level patio.

South AfricaDidnt like the engagement with the owner. Pictures on the website are deceiving. The alarm kept giving problems, cold showers, ran out of toilet paper, no animals visit this location, was just generally disappointed. You can look into the rooms - one didnt have a curtain and another you can see in. The garfen area was locked with no access.
The place was comfortable.

NetherlandsVilla Leopards Lookout is a great location, and a large comfortable space to accommodate a large family or group. We were entirely happy with our stay, enjoying Marloth Park from this home. The house feels exactly as it should for the location, and provides for all creature comforts. In particular, being able to embrace the pool from the rooftops while braaing was a firmly favorite way to spend the day. The house is also secure which provides peace of mind.
