Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PakistanThe property was beautiful. The rooms were comfortable and big and tastefully decorated. We also loved the sitting area outside our room where we could sit peacefully, look at the garden and drink tea/coffee. The breakfast was great. Natasha and Conway were great hosts. The staff were nice and friendly.

South AfricaNothing, it was a wonderful, if short stay.
Lovely place to stay for work or leisure, I will be back! It was great that Lucky Bean has an inverter so loadshedding was not an issue. Very friendly owners and staff!

HungaryWe loved every bit of our stay, no complaints.
The guesthouse was very spacious, the 4 of us fit very well in one house/room, well separated. Conway, our very helpful host briefed us what to do in the area. The house with its beautiful garden is a safe little island, and nearby there are many restaurants and bars where you can go to (by taxi only). During the electricity cut off the generators (or maybe solar energy reserves?) at the house were working, so wifi, lights and USB plugs were working (only the water pipe system wasn't, but that goes for the whole Johannesburg). Breakfast was excellent. Conway also helped us arrange airport transfers. Beautiful, clean, comfy, thank you again for the great experience!

Denmarkin the room we got there was no separate room for the bathroom, so if you are with friends you might want a different privacy.
everything was amazing! clean, relaxing, cozy, welcoming, space to chill in the evening with a glass of wine or tea. no mosquitoes. safe in the room to leave stuff locked. residential location but calm and safe. the breakfast was exceptional and the staff extremely kind and helpful. we could leave our bags in the office for the day when we checked out.

BotswanaProperty is beautifully kept, spotlessly clean, spacious, safe. And conveniently close to Milpark hospital where I have a family member in critical care. Going there after a long day spent at the hospital was… allowed me to destress in a warm, comfortable and welcoming setting. I’ve done the rounds of hotels up to the highest end, and I’ll go back to Lucky Bean Guesthouse any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

We only stayed one night at Lucky Bean Guesthouse but it was the perfect landing pad after a long journey. The bed was super comfortable and allowed us to beat our jetlag with a good night's sleep. Murphy was very helpful with check-in and gave great recommendations for nearby restaurants. The grounds are beautiful and lush and we loved the art on the walls.

A gorgeous place in a tranquil green setting in Melville, a quiet residential area with funky little cafes and shops. Comway and Natasha were wonderful , welcoming hosts and went above and beyond to help. The room was stunning and had a sofa area with TV and a lovely bathroom with oth walk in shower. The decor was beautiful- tasteful and funky. The setting in lush green gardens with use of a small. Pool is a super relaxing plave to be. Also had a great selection for breakfast and solar power for those of you worried about thr load shedding. I forgot to mention... The beds!! Oh my!! So comfy, as were the range of pillows. The best 2 njghts sleep in ages. I would kd definitely recommend a stay here and it will be my go-to place if i stay in Joburg in the future. Thanks for an amazing time, Conway and Natasha!

AustraliaA minor thing, while the room was comfortable, the toilet is right next to the bed with little to seperate the two.
Conway, Natasha and Murphy were very accomodating and went above and beyond to assist us where possible. The guesthouse was clean, included delicious breakfast and despite the weather, the pool was nice. Melville is a nice location with plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes to visit. The recommendations by the hosts are top notch. They have a great understanding of what to do in Jo’burg, no matter what kind of trip you are after.

United StatesThe load shedding was a bit of a problem but that wasn't the owner's fault. The owners took steps to minimize the impact of the of the load shedding on their guests. The extensive load shedding in the country has been much worse this year than in all previous years.
The hosts, Conway and Natasha were there everyday, answered all our questions, and made us feel at home. Quiet garden setting was perfect for relaxing when not out seeing Joburg. The breakfasts that Muphy made each day were outstanding.
