Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe had a wonderful experience at Makweti for 3 nights. The lodge is beautifully designed, and feels very traditional yet modern. The room was exceptionally comfortable with a gorgeous deck, indoor and outdoor showers and super comfortable bed. The staff were absolutely amazing - Joseph and Byron took fantastic care of us from dawn until after sundown. The food was above and beyond my expectations - varied, healthy, fresh and balanced for every single meal. The game drives were fantastic and lasted 3 hours twice per day. We saw 4 of 5 of the Big Five in our 3 day stay. I would absolutely love to stay at Makweti again.

SpainNothing. There is really nowhere we have ever stayed quite like it.
It is difficult to overstate how special this property is. It is a beautiful lodge in a private game reserve. Jess and Neil manage the property and do a fantastic job, with no exception. The food is exceptional and the service is great. The rooms are stunning. Jess was always welcoming and clearly runs a very tight ship at the lodge, as is reflected in the service and overall experience guests have. However, the property really comes into its own with the game drives. Neil is an immensely experienced and passionate guide, who leads both entertaining and educational game drives (which were max 4 guests per vehicle during our stay). The extent of his knowledge and interest are difficult to sum up here, but it can simply be said that he was a top tier guide with responses to every question. He actively sought out animals we were looking for and went to every effort he could.

TurkeyWe drove by ourselves. Staff send us a map because at the end of the route there is no phone reception. We saw there was a note on the map which indicates TAKE CASH WITH YOU FOR THE TOLLS. Unfortunately we saw that after we started the journey :) you wont be able to find any change office on the route, tolls dont accept credit cards. We managed to withdraw money at some kind of market but it was deffinetly challenging. Beside this there wasnt any problem, I am great we did this vacation
Great experience… this was our first safari and I’m sure we wont forget about anything about it. It was also our honeymoon and staff was great, they made sure that we had a great time at there. We stayed for only two nights, only regret that we have is we wish we made it longer.

South Africa....to leave this wonderful lodge!
We liked all this wonderful lodge had offered, from the beautiful Bushveld, to the friendly and helpful staff, as well as the most delicious food! Phillip our chef and his team were great. The lodge is a real gem offering luxury and relaxation. Our rooms were spotless clean, beautifully decorated and catered for ones every need. What an unforgettable experience we have had to pay a visit and spot four of the big 5 animals up close! Our ranger was Joseph, who was not only an excellent guide and driver, but who has estonished us with his rich knowledge on animals, trees, birds and even butterflies, he eagerly shared with us. Upon receiving info that lions had been spotted, he has taken us to the area as quickly as possible and ensured a sighting we will always remember! Every effort had been made to accommodate us and to provide for all our needs. Everyone has contributed to ensure that our stay was fantastic. Neil and Jessica are wonderful managers with a team that deserves an applause! We thank you for making our stay fantastic and unforgettable!

United KingdomThe lodge, in places, is looking a bit tired, but is still very comfortable. We booked last minute and had the last available room which was in a lovely location with one deck overlooking the stream and another terrace looking out towards the waterhole. The room itself however was a tad tired in places. The staff work extremely hard and to a schedule which means that there isn't too much flexibility in terms of extending game drives. Although you can't really expect that degree of flexibility at this price. On the whole, very good value for money.
This was our second visit to Makweti in 3 years. The location, setting and staff are all fantastic. The lodge nestles into the surroundings beautifully and decorated in an authentic southern african way. There are only 5 rooms which creates an intimate environment and allows you to get to know the other guests. The staff are great and work extremely hard. The food was varied, plentiful and delicious.

South AfricaNot much to say here. Perhaps a spa or in-room treatments would be a great addition to help unwind.
This lodge has a traditional feel while still having all the amenities you would expect from a luxury getaway. Meals were divine and well presented. staff are really friendly and all pay attention to detail. The lodge is not overcrowded and very private which made us feel like we had the whole place to ourselves even though there were other guests. Game viewing was top notch and Neil was extremely knowledgeable. A fantastic stay. We will be back.

IrelandThe bugs in our room and on our bed, but we understand this is the bush and to be expected! A Vacuum round the room would have been great, or slippers in the room so we did not stand on bugs, but nothing else to complain about.
