The room is aesthetically pleasing and it feels very cosy. The owner or lady in charge and staff were very kind and accommodating. The TV has a Netflix subscription which meant I could view my shows. I was highly impressed. Truly value for money.

Safe and walkable location, close to restaurants, a shopping center, and the Milpark hospital. The breakfast included hot items as well as cereal, yogurt, and fruit. Prisca did a fabulous job preparing a variety of hot egg breakfasts, solving issues that arose (had to reprogram a TV that was not showing Netflix), and generally providing useful information. The upstairs studio loft is very spacious, with a full size bathtub, peek-a-boo views of the city, a small kitchenette, nice seating area. The only caveat (for people with more limited mobility) is that reaching the loft requires walking up or down outside stairs, a bit steep and exposed to the elements.

The aesthetic bedroom, the study table in the room, the fact that there is a heater and a TV in the room made my stay wonderful. Oh, and the fact that wifi works during loadshedding took the cup. It's a well maintained and invested place. I loved it ❤️ 👌

Can never fault anything

Owner granted us early checkin-in. Thank you so much Koos. Room was spotless, and impeccably clean. Bed as always brilliant white bedding and super comfortable sleep. The bath was amazing, hot water at a drop of a hat... Was so needed.. air-con for that hot part of the day worked perfectly.... All the staff where so sweet and accommodating.... And the quietness was great.... to sum it up... Pure perfection from arrival to departure.... One cant go wrong with this guesthouse.

Nothing to complain about.... everything was top notch

Arrived an hour early, and we were welcomed warmly. Studio was spotless and ready for our early arrival. Thank you.... everything was prefect. From the comfy bed to the hot water for shower or bath (instant).... The ladies we encountered where realy hospitable. Especially the one who does the ironing etc... Realy sweet.... Breakfast was hearty and on all fronts delicious... will return again if time/work permits.... Thank you to Koos the owner... He runs a perfect guesthouse... Be seeing us again soon

The Melville Turret is a classic turn of the century (1906) home that has been converted into a guest house. The sitting room, reception and dining room capture the elegant design of the period. I had a ground floor room. It was quiet, clean and simple. The room had hot water, wifi, cable and a small fridge. Breakfast was very good with a choice of a hot entre along with cold cereals, juice, coffee, tea and fruit. Presca is a delightful host and Coos the owner a wonderful conversationalist. It's a 5-15 min walk to nearby restaurants and shops depending on which way you go. Local tours can be arranged. Safe, clean, good value.

Nothing... Eveything pristine and emaculate as always.....

Booked in earlier than check-in time. Drive was long. Was nice to atleast have a hot bath/shower before our Ballet at the joburg theater started. Room was pristine clean. Hot water in an instant, bed beyond comfortable and the white bedding added bonus for fluffyness. Morning went great, breakfast well received. Havent been back in months. Glad we returned. Next month hopefully be back with more people. Thank you "Yster" and Prisca.... you're the reason we'd always return.

The appartment in the courtyard was too humid. Not a good feeling. However well equipped.

That we could not stay longer

Prisca welcomed us very warmly and we had a nice little chat right away. So arriving is like being at home. The atmosphere in the guesthouse was very pleasant. Our room was cozy and large, the bed was just right and everything was very clean. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The location is perfect, safe and quiet even in the evening and night. Prisca had tips for us for dinner on 7th Street, walking distance about 5 minutes. Whenever we will be in Joburg again, it will be in Melville at Turret Guesthouses. Prisca is a wonderful host. Turret guest house was a relaxing oasis. Prisca helped to arrange a guided day tour of Jo’burg including Soweto which was excellent. Situated 5 minutes away from shops, cafes, bars and restaurants the location was perfect and it felt safe to walk in the neighborhood and surrounding areas. Can definitely recommend this guest house.
