How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Water pressure very low and very small geyser, not able to accommodate a full guesthouse. Had cold showers in the evening with very little water.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and neat. All in all still good value for money as it is advertised as a backpackers

We probably had the sweetest and nicest welcome ever. The people working there were just amazing and made our short stay even better! The room was really nice and the area as well. Would stay there anytime again

Thanks for this very warmly welcome from Lucia. She is the kindest receptionist I have ever met. Great suggestions what I can do in Plett and around. The full stuff are nice people to talk with and share amazing stories of live. Delicious croissants and coffee, for a good start in the day. :) Free parking is also a great bonus you have in this backpackers. I haven't met so many travelers there, more long time people are staying there. But maybe it was the time due to the pandemic and hope more backpackers can continue traveling again, now. The room was very clean, the bed comfy and I had great room mates there.

The warm welcome of Lucia was great! We immediately felt at home. The room was good and clean. The cook very nice and helpfull: we could have breakfast really early. The location is also very good, on a walking distance from the center.

Walking through the kitchen to reach the lounge / bar area is a bit odd. I wasn't sure if the kitchen was was for guests' use or private. Would have been great if there was more social / communal areas.
Great location, clean and cosy. They accommodated my late check-in and was friendly. The free parking is a big plus. Rooms are spacious and feel like you're at home.

The place is everything you would need for a couple nights. Lovely and homey. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. I would really recommend it.

Not to many travelers yet because of covid.

Room very basic and in need of a good overhaul, little bit pricey for what it was. Parking area can be a little tight if full.
Secure gated parking. Host was helpful and friendly with advice when needed. Nice little patio area. Reasonable location for access to Plet.

The owner wanted my father to sleep with small children in the room. Mind that these children were female Teenagers. I requested refund refused to give. I tried to contact booking.com but no response, my father had to walk out and book another place no refund even today

Shower head was a water saver with extremely narrow and fine spray. Left your shoulders and arms cold. Spray was so fine that water at waist level has cooled to warm and at leg level cool. Kitchen set up with owners needs first. Kitchen refrigerator was for owner. Guests had to use fridge outside the kitchen. No garbage container in kitchen. Had to go outside to dispose of egg shells etc. Really inconvenient. No comfortable furniture to relax in.
House keeping staff did excellent job at keeping facilities super clean. Secure parking for vehicles.

One of the reasons we booked this, was because of all the reviews about the wonderfull breakfast. Because of the new owners, this wasn’t relevant anymore and there was no breakfast. Not a huge problem but just not what we expected.

The shower and the bedroom are old.
It’s a cheap ok stay and it has a nice garden-bar to have a drink.
