Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaI did not like the fact that after having been shown our room and settling in, we got a knock on the door from a staff member with a card machine demanding payment. This made me feel like I was going to do a runner. Not nice. Secondly, we arrived back at 22h30 to a MASSIVE party next door with a band. The owner was quick to say that this was winding down, but took another hour before the music turned off. Had we been informed that this happened on a Friday / Saturday, we would have been fine with it. Arriving back to it is not on. Either way, we will vote with our feet.
We were met by the sweet manager Amy, who assisted us with parking and showing us to the room. She was sweet and welcoming.

South AfricaThe room itself is very old with slanted floors. Had to request more toilet paper as they only provided us with enough for one night. The walls are very thin, and we could hear the neighbouring room's occupants conversations until late. The noise from the bar area downstairs is also very disturbing.
Nice location in the centre of Greyton.

Canadathe room is above a restaurant and there is also a brewery attached to it. it is very noisy at night and it is also on the main road in greyton so not a quiet location. The bathroom is very small and no hairdryers. for the money better locations to be found

United KingdomAbsolutely loved staying here and meeting the team. Greyton is such a wonderful place, you feel so removed from life, yet you are surrounded by brilliant people and get to stay in this super cool brewery. We arrived and were shown to our lovely room, it is an old brewery so has a lot of character and a great vibe. They have a brilliant restaurant that do pizzas and burgers, we sat on the porch most of evening, tasting their awesome beers. The team couldn't have been nicer with our check in and flexibility leaving. We went for a 3 hour hike in the Nature Reserve, we did the red route then the smaller yellow route to the dam. We came back and there were towels waiting for us so we could cool off in their lovely pool. We only stayed for 1 night but would highly recommend going to stay for a weekend so you can get a sense of the Saturday markets, the community and character.

South AfricaThe rooms we stayed in were extremely basic. There is no breakfast offering, there is no servicing of the rooms on a Sunday. Everything is closed on a Sunday and our rooms had no self catering facilities. It is also very poorly communicated when you book. It basically becomes a hostel.
The rooms were clean, the location good. The food at the restaurant in the evening was very good.

South AfricaWe were booked into room number 3, which is one of their standard rooms. The room and amenities unfortunately did not meet our expectations created by the photos on their Booking.com advert. - Door does not close, it needs to be locked to remain shut - The bed is terrible. It caves in, it makes a sound when you turn (regardless of your weight), the mattress is worn out and thin and the bed is low. It’s incredibly uncomfortable to sleep in. We looked into the other rooms while they were being cleaned with the intention to perhaps ask the owners to move us, but all the beds we saw looked like they were in the exact same old condition. - The fabric of the headboard looks dirty and old, and so does the carpet - There was a piece of tissue plugged into the window, presumably to prevent wind coming in - There’s a constant cracking sound which I assume comes from the old wood contracting and retracting. It’s extremely disturbing, my mom struggled to sleep on both nights. - The floors under the carpet are uneven, but perhaps this is expected of an old building. It does however feel shaky to walk on. - There are no visible plug points near the bed, so if you’d like to charge your phone at your bedside, I imagine you’d need to search under the bed or behind the headboard to find a plug point. We didn’t do so because we were unsure of how clean the carpet and headboard were, so we used the only plug point we could see. - The bathroom is tiny but does the job. Note though that it doesn’t have a toothbrush holder, no hand towel, the toilet is positioned too high up which leaves you with pins & needles in your legs after sitting for a long time, the toilet paper quality is awful and the rim of the shower floor was dirty. - We booked this place largely because of the swimming pool, but we couldn’t even make use of it because it was extremely filthy. The water was grey and murky, you couldn’t see to the bottom. - There are steps leading up to the standard rooms
Amy and her husband are incredible hosts. They patiently and politely dealt with a payment issue I experienced. They welcomed us to their property with great warmth, smiles and help. They made a dinner reservation for us at a nearby restaurant and even came to check on us while we ate. They were very attentive to our questions and requests over the phone during our stay. They are extremely lovely and helpful! The location of their property is also incredible...right on the main road and within walking distance to everything.
