Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaThe roads leading up to the property were terrible. The shower was not clean. The “cleaning” of the room itself was not thorough. Towels were not replaced.
The staff were very helpful and kind. The food was great. It was so serene and peaceful. AC was functional. Water was hot 24/7. Perfect place for relaxing. WiFi was so efficient 10/10.

South AfricaFirstly booking.com makes it impossible to change, and especially cancel a booking. Why we keep using them, I'm not sure. Panzi Lodge itself is well situated an easy 30 minutes from the Kruger National Park. Also nearby to the Panorama Route. However, the room we had was dirty and grimy. The furniture needs a new coat of paint at very least. The tub chair with faded pullover covers had a broken leg. The bedside lampshades were loose and ready to fall off. The loose, stained headboard banged on the wall when rolling over in your sleep. Very basic, simple and outdated decor. The indoor shower should be demolished. The tikes were mouldy and dirty, the shower head hasn't been cleaned in a long time. At least we had floor tiles - our second room for our daughter had no tiles, only a polished concrete floor which led to her slipping when wet. The basin tap trickled water out so slowly, and was never repaired after two requests. The stinking plumbing was eventually masked by another chemical, but returned after 2 days. The toilet was very small and we were not able to flush it until after two attempts at repairs. Even then, it then ran the entire night. The outdoor shower was poor and overlooked by a neighbouring unit. The wooden walkways to the rooms were slippery when wet, but with no warnings, causing a minor sprained ankle for us. However, the unguarded bridge railing (not to safety regulations and standards) could result in a serious fall to the river bed below. DEFINITELY NOT SAFE AT ALL FOR SMALL KIDS., nevermind adults. The staff even admitted to slipping on the same walkways, but offered no particular help to me who sprained my ankle. The boarding-house style dining area was mostly self service. The admin staff were pleasant but did not seem to manage staff, cleaning, cooking, etc very well. The reception/office desk was part of the open dining area, so phone calls, staff disputes, etc were all handled in front of guests.

South AfricaFood was average The breakfast packs was of low quality, it consisted of ham sarmies, boiled egg and a yogurt, of which is alright but not twice in a row. The younger reception staff are very loud, extremely talkative and interrupts when people are speaking to each other, and the topics they spoke about is inappropriate for guests, which in turn hinders the privacy and romantic atmosphere a couple would want. The pool was not fairly maintained and also no generator during loadshedding. After dinner, it's bed-time, no fire to enjoy and the bar is closed. The bar was "self-service" even though staff were there and lastly, the septic tanks were emptied while people were at the lodge, the smell was awful - in my opinion they could offer guests a complimentary drive while the septic tanks are being emptied
Rooms are beautiful, outside shower is heaven. Charmaine is an exceptional manager and knows exactly when and how to accommodate visitors. The lodge is close to Orpen Gate In general the lodge is very peaceful

United KingdomAt the time we stayed, the owners and their family and friends were also staying at the lodge. They, and the staff, were all very friendly, helpful and welcoming but at breakfast/dinner we felt very excluded as we were the only 2 people not included at the large communal table.
The lodge was lovely, it had a small pool and the breakfast and dinner were good.

South AfricaThis place is definitely not suitable for elderly people. You have to walk for ages to get to the dining room on rickety paths. The food was definitely not on lodge standards. No tv, no drinks allowed in the room. Not worth paying R5 000 for two nights.
The room was quite nice, but no TV.

United KingdomI am not a fan of the school like dinner approach when it came to eating at this establishment. I would have preferred to be given even a small menu with a couple of choices to select from rather than being informed of what I would be eating, having it dished up and brought to me with no idea of what the portion size would be or for instance when eating a steak, not being asked how I would like it to be cooked but instead given a very overcooked piece of meat. Buffet would have been a better option if having a menu is not.
The friendliness of the staff, with helpful tips on where to go and what to see in the area was very helpful. Also I have dietary requirements which were quiet strict and even in their remote location, they ensured I had plenty of options at breakfast. The units where situated not close to each other, so you got the sense of being secluded in the bush. Watching a bok come past and eating outside my room while still in bed was a bonus.

South AfricaThe food could have been more imaginative. We thought it was more in tune with basic plain home cooking rather than what you might expect when staying in a Lodge.
The staff were amazing and the location, venue and facilities were good. We were made very welcome. We liked the honesty bar and the range of wines available.

RussiaThe unit we were in was very close to the next unit which mean we couldn't use the outdoor shower comfortably. We also had very noisy neighbours who drowned out the sound of the bush at night
The staff was extremely friendly, the location is really good and close to the Kruger and the meals were good.
