How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Some of the plugs were not working. To little plugs near bed. No Fridge available.
Place was great value for money spend. Will stay there again in future.

For various reasons we did not have wifi during our stay. Would have liked access to more channels. On that weekend it was rugby and would have preferred being in my room with the fire and a good glass of wine
Comfortable room, good fireplace and to far from reception Only regret is that we did not dine at Highlander. Good reason to return ;-) Whiskey bar - tops!

Not much really. Waiter did not know much about craft beer, but that is a minor detail. Would have been nice if there could be access to a place to buy a nice cup of coffee in the morning!
The room was very good, with very comfortable furniture, and a lovely fireplace. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was well equipped. The hotel staff were friendly and the atmosphere in the lounge is inviting and relaxing.

Nothing to comment on that was negative. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and met all our requirements and what we expected. The owners were always around and willing to assist. We had a great stay and will definitely return.
Rooms were nice and very clean, need a little attention and "upgrading", beds were extremely comfortable. Coffee station in the room could have a little more. TV and or decoder not great (only one SABC channel available. Ate at the Chapter One restaurant, both food and service was very very good. Whisky bar was very impressive with great staff.

We loved everything about it. It was the most magnificent hotel room we have ever stayed in. The food was also the best fine dining in town and the owners / staff, so friendly, accommodating , kind and helpful. They went beyond to make our 25th Wedding anniversary so special, flowers in the room, petals at the dinner table and more . . . we highly recommend this amazing Hotel.

That alot of the tourist places to visit was closed
Breakfast was excellent location good however nothing was open in dullstroom the few days we were there

The parking is limited and a bit squashed, especially when there are many guests. The coffee station in the room only had instant coffee and coffee creamer.
The room was nice and spacious. The bed was comfortable with good quality bedding and pillows. The bathroom was generously proportioned with both a corner bath and a shower. There was a fireplace in the room and wood available for purchase at reception.

For what I paid I thought it was very expensive, I booked for two adults and ended up with a 3 bedroom place. Floor heater in the bathroom was not working. the room was freezing.
