Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaToo short a stay, recommend 3 nights with cave sleeping.
A very rustic African feel to the camp and superb olden day decor made the venue and rooms feel as if you take a step back in time. The food was fantastic, especially the kudu stew. The rooms though spartan was clean and uniquely set up for both a rustic/ bush feel but still with proper bathroom facilities with hot water and a flushing toilet. We woke up to the sounds of the bush with lions roaring in the distance and baboons making a raucous just outside the camp. A big thank you to Riaan and Dan for the walking safari which had our heart rates up as we encountered lion and white rhinos. Also to Liam and Johan who did the guided vehicle safari’s, the level of knowledge and expertise is phenomenal and we never had a dull moment while traveling with either of them. We will definitely be back again.

Absolutely wonderful and everything lived up to expectations! Tents were really comfortable and the hot tub was an added bonus. Great food and atmosphere during meal times. The best thing about this place are the owners and staff who are all on hand to help and are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The guides were all very knowledgeable on the game drives and so enthusiastic and caring about the animals and the reserve.

SwedenWhere to start… This safari was everything you want. Our guides were amazing (big shoutout to Johan and Liam) they were so happy, enthustiastic and very knowledgeable. They really care about making it a special event for you and they care deeply about the animals and protecting their enviroment. The accomondation are big tents with a big bed, toilet, shower and our own jacuzzii! The jaccuzzi is located beneath an open sky and i have never seen more stars then i did here. Truly amazing. Food was great, the safari area great, we spotted the big five but they were so much more animals to see. I really loved all the warthogs for example. If you want a real rural (but still luxorious) safari experience, Amakhala 1920s safari is what you should book.

GermanyIt was a one-of-a-kind experience - from the very beginning to the end! Communication went smoothly, welcoming, atmosphere in the camp/tents, food and the guides plus the other staff around! I’ve done a few safaris before, but these gamedrives were probably the best due to the atmosphere in the Amakhala Park and the guides, who had a very good knowledge and were happy to share it with the group! We also liked that the guides always showed respect to the wildlife, given them the space they needed. As a result we had many animals that approached us and came very very close! What a experience! We cannot thank the crew enough for it! Plus the bathtub, from where we could watch the stars - amazing! We’ll never forget it!

GermanyYou have to be ready to encounter all kinds of animals in the camp, but this is what this experience is about :-) Also, the owners and guides help whenever something needs to be removed, thanks so much for that again!
Exceptional experience during Game Drives (thanks Johann and Liam), most wonderful people owning the camp (Riaan and Julie) - we saw how passionate & knowledgeable Riaan was, wow - and overall very unique experience in the middle of the bush. We also had a lovely group of people also traveling, really cool!

United KingdomThat I had to leave.
Exceptional. The tents were well equipped with very comfortable beds and excellent facilities - the outdoor shower and hot tub were AMAZING. The team at Quatermain’s are so hospitable and nothing is ever too much trouble. A huge shout out goes to Riaan and Liam whose knowledge of the reserve and animals was unbelievable. The optional overnight trail and cave stay (if staying 3 nights or more) is so worth it. The experience was breathtaking. I can’t rate this place enough and I am certain I will return again. Thank you so so much!!

We loved every aspect of this experience. The staff were all incredible; we were so impressed by the guide's knowledge, enthusiasm & respect for the animals and nature. They made the game drives so enjoyable (even when raining). The reserve is a great size & we had such memorable sightings & animal encounters (elephants, lions, rhinos, buffalo, tortoises, hippos, giraffes, jackal to name a few). We loved the intimate feel of Quatermains, with just 6 guests & everyone eating breakfast and dinner together - which were both delicious. Our personal hot tub heated by a wooden stove was the icing on the cake! Would highly recommend. Thank you so much to Liam, Johan, Nick, Julie & Riaan for a once in a lifetime experience.

United KingdomQuatermains is an incredibly personal and immersive safari experience. The staff and guides are exceptional and due to only having a maximum of six guests, you will immediately feel part of this family run adventure. The tents are superb in giving the 1920's experience with fanatastic comfort. (The individual tents now come with a wood fired hot tub!!!!). The safari and guides ensure you will not be short of big game animal viewings, all in a well equipped comfortable safari vehicle. The owners have ensured you will get the best overall autentic experience you could ask for.

we loved everything - from our arrival up to our last breakfast. The staff was extremely nice, they know your name, diet, … felt super welcomed. You can tell that Julie and Riaan love this place and take very good care of it. Julie was very helpful, even months before our arrival she made sure we were fully prepped to stay at their camp. The tents are very nice, very comfortable and you even get a hot water bottle to stay warm at night! We had 3 game drives and decided to do the walking safari with Riaan (so knowledgeable!) on our last day. The rangers are so friendly and very respectful to the wildlife. We got to see all the beautiful animals, including lions with their cubs, and we learned so much along the way! We loved the whole family vibe and can only recommend this place. You will not regret coming here. ❤️

This was the highlight of our South African holiday! The staff were amazing - so knowledgeable and loved their job. We enjoyed their company so much. We loved being in a tent rather than a luxurious game lodge. It seemed more authentic. We saw all the animals we wanted to see. We enjoyed our 3 trips in a vehicle and loved our walking safari with Riann. We learnt so much. It was lovely coming back to a big breakfast after being on safari for 4 hours. Enjoyed our evening chats with the staff and other guests and drinks and evening meal. We cannot recommend this highly enough. It was two days of our life that was absolutely wonderful!
