The cottage we stayed in didn't have super modern furniture (e.g., old leather couch) - not the biggest deal as we spent most of the time outside but worth to mention.

Very nice lodge in the heart of Madikwe! I really liked that the lodge was small in size (max occupancy is 14 guests over 4 cottages) as it felt like a private experience and very catered to personal needs. The rangers were amazing and we always had very nice game drives around the reserve. Excellent service overall by the entire staff!!

Though the lodge was not full, having one staff member as waiter, porter, host, and barman created an inconsistent experience.

Beautiful lodge with spacious rooms and modern decor. Saw lots of game, Big 5 and other rare sightings. The food was great and staff was attentive. Dinner in the room and birthday celebration were top-notch

Really can’t think of anything.

This was my first safari in SA and so I was not sure what to expect, but my expectations were blown away! The welcome I received from Neo on arrival was warm and genuine and from then on, the service was fantastic from the entire team who made it obvious that they wanted to ensure I had a great stay. My accommodation was brilliant - spotlessly clean, spacious, luxurious and very well equipped. Thank you to the housekeeping team for looking after me. The food served was plentiful, absolutely delicious and every need met - thank you to Lssego and her team for everything. Luyander was extremely helpful and was always there when needed. I can’t thank Honest enough for the most wonderful experience on the game drives. He went out of his way to locate the animals I was interested in whilst also looking after everyone’s interests. He was very knowledgeable and was very patient answering my many questions. Treasured memories seeing animals in their natural habitat. The morning coffee breaks and afternoon sundowners were a treat too! Neo was also brilliant, professional and friendly and always smiling. It’s the people that make any great business and I can’t praise the whole team highly enough, and that includes the management. The “hide” was just brilliant and I spent several hours just watching in anticipation of what might show up - and plenty did, I was in my element. I wished I could have stayed longer and would highly recommend Rock Fig to anyone looking for a fantastic safari experience. I hope to go back!!

The game driver was friendly and competent. We saw so many animals - elephants, rhino, cheetah, hyenas, giraffe, buffalo, lions and he handled those close encounters very well. However, I would have liked a bit more communication on the animals we were seeing as well as information about the park, the flora and the bird life.

The lodge is beautiful. We will definitely go back.

Nothing to improve on. It was perfect. A heated pool would be great for guests like us who can’t get into cold water!

Excellent location with surrounding hides where elephants and other wildlife regularly visit, including a private hide at our lodge! Accommodation is luxurious and very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. A special mention of Neo who always had a smile on her face! Our chef, Jessica, was exceptional and catered for all our dietary needs. All meals are unique and delicious, with fine dining standards. Game drives were an absolute thrill with awesome sightings and a very knowledgeable guide, Hanru, who went out of his way to get us to experience the best sightings. He was amazing with the kids too and they learnt a lot about wildlife from him! Overall, the best safari and bush lodge experience we’ve had so far!

We stayed until yesterday at Rockfig Madikwe and had an incredible time! Honest the ranger was amazing - his knowledge of the animals and the area was truly impressive, and he helped us spot the greatest things and animals during game drives! The food was delicious and the villa was stunning, with beautiful views of the bush and the mountains. The attention to detail throughout our stay from all the staff was really amazing - from the bonfire at night to the decoration after coming back from game drives. The place has only 4 villas, which make the experience very special and very high-end. We highly recommend Rockfig Madikwe to anyone looking for an unforgettable safari experience. The combination of great hospitality, amazing wildlife, and beautiful accommodations made for a truly unforgettable trip.

From the moment we arrived Pauline and Honest were standing there waiting to greet us. They made our trip one to remember and went beyond what a staff member is “expected” to do. Pauline would always check in on me and my partner, asking if we were comfortable, if we needed any drinks or if she could help us with any food. Honest, our game ranger for the trip, made it his mission to get us to see the big five. WOW. He went above expectations. He communicated well with other rangers in the reserve and we were able to see the big five, cheetahs on a kill and so much more. He was knowledgeable, friendly and always willing to lend a hand. I originally chose this hotel because I wanted to get engaged to my partner and the venue looked great. But the staff made this engagement ceremony one that I won’t soon forget and gives me reason to come back year on year from here on out. They ensured that we had flowers on arrival driven from Zeerust, the food cooked by Sylvester was mouth watering and everything was great.

Absolutely beautiful, delightful and over the too service. Honest was magnificent and so knowable. His ability to drive the safari vehicle was beyond belief. Please go and indulge in the experience. Pauline provided fabulous service. Kind and cute. She made every meal and task made us feel like we were Royalty. Wonderful reserve. One must go,because words cannot describe the experience.

Everything! We loved our stay at Rockfig. There are just a handful of totally private, beautiful lodges with amazing views across the park.
