Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe booked this hotel thinking we could walk to the Waterfront, but the staff advised against doing that at night. We still walked back and forth during the day and enjoyed the shuttle at night. The only time we had to drive or take an Uber was to have dinner at some of the nearby restaurants that were too far to be reached safely on foot and not far enough to be in the safe area at the Waterfront.
Very nice facility, close to the Waterfront, but not on it. Our view was on the canals and towards the Waterfront, but also overlooking a busy street -- which was not too noisy at night. The room was small, but efficiently furnished, with comfortable beds. The pool was tiny -- and we did not use it. Breakfast was excellent, with several choices of hot and cold items, although rather crowded at times. The staff were friendly and efficient, although occasionally swamped with too many guests demanding their attention: we noticed that several fairly large groups arrived or checked out at times, which put pressure on the reception staff during those times. The free shuttle going to the V&A is fabulous. The driver made sure to return and do another trip if a pick-up was in such high demand that he could not take all the passengers at the same time. We also walked to the V&A during daytime hours, a short 15-minute trip on the canals, passing by some good restaurants and equipment rental stores. The walk would probably be safe after dark as well, but the hotel staff recommended against trying. Parking underground is affordable and safe, with in and out privileges.

KenyaThe initial room had a smell coming out of the drainage in the bathroom. The staff however moved us to another room which was fine. The room small if you have kids with you.
The hourly shuttles to and from V&A Waterfront made it very easy to move around. The Easter chocolates for the kids were a nice touch.

United StatesThe hotel could have stated where the return shuttle from the V and A waterfront was located. They simply said pick up was at the same stop as dropoff. We didn’t take the shuttle there, so finding the pickup spot was a bit challenging.
Very helpful staff. I left my phone in the airport shuttle. Brittany at reception called the shuttle company and I had my phone back in 10 minutes. The hotel offered a shuttle to and from the V and A waterfront.

South AfricaNo shuttle to the DHL stadium although lots of cyclists were staying there. The room had one water bottle in the fridge and minimal tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was average. It wasn’t cheap to stay there and I felt like the hotel could have gone the extra mile with a few extra touches
Close to Cape Town Cycle Tour start which was great and they did offer a quick breakfast and snacks for cyclists starting early.

United KingdomFood options for room service / restaurant could be more varied.
You can't pick a better location. Very close the the Victoria Waterfront which has loads of restaurants. The suite is spacious. Hotel was kept clean. The staff were very helpful and efficient. 2 examples - we needed a room upgrade to a suite, they were adaptable and sorted it out for us. The bar staff didn't have the cocktails we like on their menu but went ahead to mix them because they said they had the ingredients.
