Only the fact that we couldn’t stay longer!

We’d been lucky enough to visit various lodges in Madikwe before, but were really impressed by every aspect of Tau Lodge. From its fabulous location - with all rooms and the dining deck overlooking a genuinely busy water hole - to exceptional staff and fine food, I couldn’t recommend this too highly. We will return!

An amazing lodge in the Madikwe park. We ate every meal looking out at all the beautiful animals of the park. Game drives were absolutely brilliant. The staff was wonderful. What an experience!!

Some of the meat served at dinner/lunch was really not good. The chef explained that they were trying a new supplier, I hope that has been addressed as it was disappointing.

The lodge was closed for renovations, so we were accommodated at their Private Member Suites (Matla Lodge) in a lovely large chalet. Only 5 chalets at the lodge, so it had a very exclusive feel. Great outdoor area with pool and where we had a braai dinner overlooking the waterhole ( two leopards came to visit! ). The main building was beautifully furnished. Staff were lovely, and we had an amazing guide, James, so knowledgeable and good fun….did the very best sunset/morning drinks that we had during our 3 weeks touring in SA!!! Madikwe is a brilliant reserve for wildlife, fantastic game viewing, it will not disappoint.

The buffet food were not warm by the time it was served. The plated food was excellent. Only normal coffee was for free, but coffees like cuppacino and latte's were charged extra.

Staff were very friendly and willing to assist with everything we wanted. The General Manager went out of his way to make us feel welcome. The game ranger was very knowledgeable.

The lodges are really nice, strategically located in front of a waterhole that attracts various species of animals. The staff was nice and helpful and the food was delicious. All the game drives have been incredibile, we've seen a lot of animals and different landscapes. A special thank you to our ranger James who is very passionate and knowledgeable about the reserve's wildlife and made every single drive an unforgettable experience. I higly recommend.

The family unit is so perfect! It is two bedrooms/bathrooms connected by a lounge (living room) and allowed our 10 and 13 year old boys to go to sleep while we stayed up later. The outdoor patio was also an added bonus and allowed us some fun time during the day between game drives.

Fantastic location in the reserve. Great food and excellent service by the team there. The restaurant headed by Ex Chef Rea was a treat listening and catering to our every whim despite us being a large group. To top the service was the hospitality with the complimentary cakes, wines for our birthday and anniv in our group. Not to mention the beautiful dance by team to bring in the birthday. The game safari guide James was super … thanks for making our trip so memorable. Wish we had stayed more than a day !

there was nothing we were unhappy about

this was the lodge where we have been able to see 4 out of the big 5. the game drives were adventurous and breath taking and we couldn’t have asked for a better game drive. the rooms were beautiful with an amazing view on a big waterhole which gave the opportunity to see lots of animals while having lunch or just having a chill on your own balcony.
