easy reception and dinner after a long drive Queenstown entry via Google maps - a long dust road after a very long drive from JHB - maybe add recomended routes to travellers

Small shower head, doesn't allow for couple sharing. Mattress was a bit too hard for my liking.

There is a lot of space in between the cottages, thus allowing for privacy. We had a lovely area outside which we used for picnicking. The view from the mountain top is fantastic, I loved it. The fridge was ice cold. The fireplace helped keep the place extra warm. Restaurant had a lovely set-up, great jazz music and tasty food.

Just the washing area for dishes needs a bit of attention and I found a hair in kitchen, but other than that, no complaints at all. kitchen well equipped.

We loved the location , on the edge of the beautiful town. The beautiful old English garden, the quietness, privacy and of course you have the best restaurant in town. From the good quality of food (best pizza, I had in years), very friendly staff and good service. I had a couple of good references from friends and I am also recommend you to friends. And yes indeed we will be back again. Also very good value for money. My best wishes for a good year for you.

Warm days a aircon would be amazing. Not much more I didn't like.

Very easy to get hold of my keys and the directions were clear and easy to follow. View was amazing and very clean cottage. Complimentary coffee and tea was very welcome after our long trip. Food at the restaurant was top 10 in my opinion.

The receptionist on check-in wasn’t very welcoming but everyone we encountered after that was much friendlier. Because of the location of the town, this kind of place isn’t really appropriate for an overnight stay. It makes sense to stay a couple of days here. The roads to and from the town are terrible.

Hogsback is a weirdly wonderful little town but it is a total mission to get there and to get out of there.

The one bedroom house we stayed in was very small and it wasn't easy to move around the furniture. The hot tap in the kitchen doesn't work. One of the main tourist attractions, namely The Labyrinth, looks tired and dilapidated. Also The Edge viewpoint could be given some attention. This is a major viewpoint, but there are no benches or anything to sit on to admire the view, just overgrown grass. Lastly, the road getting to this unit is horrible. It can be done in a sedan, but not comfortably.

We loved the beautiful location right on top of the mountain. We also loved the beautifully designed gardens, which gives each unit a natural barrier and privacy. We were traveling with our dog and also loved the pet friendly trails available. The barbecue area outside was another definite highlight. We would recommend this property.

Could have done with a fan as it was so hot. WiFi would have been a plus in the cabin. Had an issue with the hot and cold water mix, as you could only get one or the other in the shower. Reception was very good about it though.

The photos we viewed when booking did not reflect what we found at the chalet - rather than the dramatic mountain views we were expecting, we had a good view - over some overgrown hedges - of a grassy field, beyond which the mountains fell away. There was also a road of sorts just on the other side of the hedge and a vehicle drove up and down it several times in our short stay. Unfortunately, the weather turned really bad and we woke to heavy rain, meaning outdoor activity was not really on the cards, so we cut our stay short and headed off. Further, in today's South African reality of loadshedding, not having a power solution is not really acceptable.

Hogsback is fantastic, the views and options for hiking and exploration are great. The chalet was well equipped and a reasonable distance from the other cottages.

The national access roads to Hogsback as well as those within the town are in desperate need of maintenance.

The Edge Mountain Retreat is still providing all the services necessary, at the standard we had previously experienced. We enjoyed the views, meals, tranquillity and accommodation we expected.
