We absolutely loved our stay at Zuurberg, and cannot recommend the place enough for anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing place to stay near Addo Elephant Park. The surroundings of the property are gorgeous, nestled in the mountains, and the property itself is also beautiful. Our bedroom looked just like the photos and was very comfortable, and had everything we needed for our stay. Customer service was impeccable and we felt welcome and well looked after from arrival. Alexandra was superb and helped us not only with information about our stay but also with extra tips for our ongoing journey. All the staff were lovely and always ready to help. We also did a whole day game drive and an elephant encounter, both experiences organized by the property and both excellent. Zuurberg was fantastic and we look forward to coming back!

The room we had is a bit dated, so is the major area but it also gives it a very charming warm feeling. More a matter of taste.

The staff was a 10/10!! They were amazing. They really gave us that family feeling and accommodated everything around our 2 boys. While dinner was at 7, they arranged food for them at 5. The pool is beautiful and the garden is very big, kids loved running around. There is a playground and we saw monkeys early morning.

Unfortunately the pool was green. Beautiful garden which could have done with some TLC it looked a bit neglected. Catering was average I would have liked better presentation and perhaps some more thought for vegans and vegetarians

We had a tree branch scraping on the room roof during winds which was pretty noisy - pruning the branches would resolve this.

The meals were excellent, the place is idyllic with some amazing views over the Addo Elephant Park, and we really enjoyed hiking the Porcupine Trail on the property and seeing some Sable antelope close up. Overall, the staff, service and facilities were excellent.

Gravel road for 30 min last bit of the way. Took along time to navigate in the dark.

It’s a bit old style, like a trip back in time. The WiFi is quiet weak and the off road drive to the lodge is quiet long (20 km from Addo main gate)

The Lodge is in the middle of the mountains, has a kids playground and a pool. You can safely hike there. The Christmas Dinner was made with a lot of effort.

We were upgraded to a private cottage on arrival at no extra charge...gorgeous scenery from our terrace. The facilities are beautiful and clean. Staff friendly and accommodating. The owner is an incredible host...always ensuring his guests are comfortable and enjoying their stay.

- No taxi service to airport (no uber or booking.com booking for return way possible) finally reception found private tour operator for 5.30 am which was very expensive (2.500 Rand/more than flight from Cape Town) - No internet in rooms - Furniture a bit dated - Garden towards way to bungalows a bit blank (mostly grass) - Bungalows have English style furniture / would love more a bit more African deco

The breakfast was excellent, it had a wide variety. I loved the location, where it's situated in the mountains. I just wish the road to the location was a bit wider for the turns up the hill.

The hot water not working as described in the morning was a challenge. We know south African circumstances are difficult, but would appreciate it if it is already limited to work when it says it will be on. The water for the 3 days we stayed never reached more than luke warm status.

This is one of my favourite places in South Africa. Always a joy to travel here. The food is outstanding. The rooms are spaceous with little treats like underfloor heating. The game drives in Addo is an absolute treat, with outstanding sightings. The views from the room is breathtaking.
