“It is a memorable stay in my trip to Japan with family. Firstly, the food is excellent in both dinner and breakfast. Though the staff cannot speak super fluent English, they strive to communicate with us to explain the the specialties of each dish. I really appreciate that. Besides, the room is big for 4 people. Even my bro and I have to sleep on the tatami, the beds mattress is super thick that you won't feel like sleeping on the ground. (They will help place the sleeping stuff when you are out for the dinner.) The hot spring is not so remarkable but nice and tidy, so you can bath comfortably. In the common area near the counter, they provide tea and coffee for you to drink with a heater nearby using real wooden pieces. There is also an area selling souvenirs and beverages. All in all, it is worth staying there for a night, especially when there are not many residents.”

“The owners were incredibly nice. They gave us tips on where to eat and drove us where we wanted with their car. On top of that they picked us up while using the local coin laundry and warned us not to use the dryer there. They then hung up our laundry at the ryokan and returned it folded when it was dry. We were so grateful. It was almost an emotional goodbye when we left. The room was very large and green tea and instant coffee were provided. Also used the relaxing Onsen a lot. How to reach the Ryokan from Tokyo: Take the Toki Shinkansen from Tokyo station to Jomo-Kogen. There is a bus service from there to Minakami. Get out at Minakami Onsen bus stop, cross the road and then the little blue bridge. Turn right afterwards and the Ryokan will be at the corner after a few yards. Foreigners can get a three day bus pass for 2000 Yen at Jomo-Kogen or pay on the bus (650 Yen).”
