“It was my first experience in a dorm with four other women. I will definitely do it again. The bathroom was very clean with plenty of soap and shampoo. My bunkbed was made every day. The staff is great. Very nice gardens and set up with wooden drying racks for your wet clothes. The pool is superb with comfy sunbeds and relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast and lunch were good, although I did need to order lunch at my booking as I had to choose from the menu and had to order more an I wanted to make up the prepaid $10.”

For better surfers I recommend staying at Polhena bech to surf the left or right of Madiha or at Kabalana beach to surf the spot "The Rock".”

His brother is a surf instructor so you are able to book a surf lesson at his place (2500 lkr for a lesson (one hour)/300 lkr for renting a board for one hour). The owner also drove me with his tuktuk to the trainstation when I got really bad fever on the day of my departure.”

“Definitely the best guesthouse we lived in during our stay in Sri Lanka. When we came here Raymond's mother welcomed us and made us feel like home. She is the sweetest lady you can think of! Not to mention that Raymond is the best host you can find in Sri Lanka! So helpful and accomodating. If you need something, Raymond is there at one second helping you with whatever you need. The rooms are really nice with mosquito nets and a fan, just what you need. We really liked that we could use the kitchen, which was very clean and had everything we needed. “Although not actually called a homestay, this is the most authentic and welcoming stay we encountered. Ganisha & Tharanga speak fluent English and can converse on any subjects. They are so helpful and share their knowledge. Ganisha is an amazing cook and showed us how to cook 5 Sri Lankan dishes and how to make lanterns for Vesak. With 2 children, Hirun and Pasinda, we were made to feel like part of their family. People in the neighbourhood were also friendly. This Eco villa has nice rooms with an inside/outdoor bathroom & hot water, but no air-conditioning. It is in a great location, quiet for sleeping but very close to the beach and great value. We were here in the wrong time, but the surf is good during the right season. We highly recommend staying here and this villa deserves the best rating.”

“It's a relatively new guesthouse so the rooms and bathroom are clean, modern and comfortable with a ceiling fan. The bathroom is shared with one other room but we never found this a problem. It's big and has a great shower (cold but you wouldn't want it any other way when it's so hot!). There's a cute little balcony where you can chill and eat your breakfast/dinner. The family who run the guesthouse are all very friendly and will do anything to help! For us, the location was ideal as you are walking distance between Medigama (beautiful quiet beaches and a 'surf' vibe) but also Weligama, too. Breakfast is basic but for the price per night it's great that it's included. They also have a small menu of drinks and food all at inexpensive, local prices and we chose to have dinner cooked for us every night, which was amazing and saved hassle trying to find anywhere else! Wifi is really good and scooter hire is also available. All in all, it is probably the best value for money we've had in the whole of Sri Lanka and we would definitely recommend!”

“To be honest, compared to other guest houses where we stayed, that was the best place on Sri Lanka! A lovely family runs this hotel and we were treated as a part of their family. It was an amazing experience because we tried delicious Sri Lankan food prepared by the sister of the owner, found new friends and spent a lot of time playing with cute puppies! The room was very clean and nice and breakfast was very good. It was such a great place that we extended our staying here from 1 night to 7! I would highly recommend this place for other travellers.”
