The National hotel was a great find! It was off the beaten path. We had two rooms, the suite was awesome, a fabulous shower and bathroom, very comfortable and clean bed, nice view from the windows. The second room was 3 twins, perfect for our 3 teenagers. Hotel has a great hot, fresh breakfast, bar and a banquet room for parties. We were there for 2 nights while exploring the Scottish Highlands. Would definitely like to come back one day. This place is up and coming, great staff who are dedicated to your comfort.
The location was excellent. Loch Ness, the Caledonian Canal and the highlands are all within easy reach from the Lodge. Inverness is only a very short bus ride away but is also a very pleasurable shortish walk which takes you over the Caledonian Canal and down the bank of the River Ness into the town centre. The Apartment itself is stunning. It is very modern, warm and extremely welcoming. The Hosts, Margaret and Callum, are incredibly friendly people and nothing is too much trouble for them.
My family and I have stayed at the Highlands Hotel for many years and as per usual we always love staying at the property. When we checked in on Saturday, Ryan was extremely friendly and very helpful. Staff at the leisure centre were really friendly as always. Food as always, very good however we did wait 15mins on Sunday morning to be seated for breakfast, we also had finished our breakfast by the time our tea and toast was served so we never got to have that, a bit disappointed to say the least.
Invergarry
A beautiful castle hotel on an idyllic estate in the heart of the Highlands. Our four poster bedroom was spacious and luxurious. The staff were so kind and professional. We loved the option to have light lunches and afternoon tea/coffee served in the lounge, so we could relax and enjoy the views of the estate grounds from the comfort of the hotel. Dinner was truly delicious. I do not have enough good things to say. It was the perfect, peaceful, scenic place for our vacation.
Fort Augustus
Affordable apartment in Hogwarts-style resort; the amenities are wonderful for families with an indoor swimming pool (must pre-book a time), ping-pong, billiards, board games etc and the ability for archery, ax-throwing and knife-throwing right on Loch Ness. The apartment gave us the option to cook our own meals after driving long distances and eating out during our 10-day trip. It is a great launching site to other places in the Highlands and our family really enjoyed it!
The Ocean View Hotel was a lovely highland get away where we had everything we needed and more. The rooms have been modernised to ensure all comforts are met. We were able to bring our dog to the hotel, who was greeted with treats and a blanket upon arrival. The owners are lovely and have created a wonderful space to gather pre- or post walks in the Northwest of the Highlands, to be well fed & watered, and to allow you to fully enjoy their little corner of the world.
During a trip to the highlands we decided to stay a night at Aviemore. The apartment we got has a wonderful price and was excellent. It was very well equipped with a large kitchen and living area. It had a separate bedroom. Everything was very clean and conformt and we were very satisfied. It was the best value for money in our entire trip and while we did not pay a lot we were more happy compared to other places who charged more money.
We were diverted here when a storm downed power lines across the highlands and our original hotel was not available. They called to tell us, and I was very grateful for their help. The staff continued this helpful and friendly approach, giving great advice on local attractions, when we reached the hotel. The Hotel itself was a very attractive building, great location, great breakfast, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable.
The Balavil Hotel was amazing! Our room was so big recent refurbished but still had the traditional Scottish feel in line with the rest of the building itself, with all the amenities you could ask for. Staff were very friendly and attentive especially James! The food at the restaurant was top notch and same goes for the breakfast that was included! Great all around, will be staying here again on our next trip to the Highlands!
Dingwall
A perfect apartment; close to everything needed including the town centre, train station, bus services, supermarket and local independent retailers too. A great base to explore the Highlands from regardless if you have your own transport or using public transport. The apartment was really well equipped with all cooking resources required and I can be very fussy when it comes to knifes, tongs and dishes!
great location good value SWIMMING pool in the highlands n Scotland - if you are from the US or molly coddled you may discount this valuable offering efficient courteous staff and bonus the view from our spacious room - no obstruction - a meadow with sheep, rabbits , cows, seagulls a beautiful verdant pastiche one con: the hotel could benefit from a refresh of furnishings and decor
Inverness
This apartment was outstanding! We stayed 3 nights and were very pleased we did. The facilities were very comfortable and clean. The instructions for entering and checking out were clear. The information book for renters was very well prepared and quite useful. It was the best experience in our two-week trip through the highlands!
Inverness
Quiet peaceful location, easy to find from instructions Comfortable, clean and warm with good kitchen facilities should you wish to cater for yourself A good value homely apartment perfect for an out of town break in the highlands Good car parking, a car IS essential as the accommodation is on the outskirts of the town
Dingwall
The hotel was exceptionally clean and the staff was amazing, very helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a perfect location for someone who is travelling all the way up to the highlands. There restaurant has a nice selection of sea food and local beers with their bar also having a huge selection of scotch whiskeys.
Free breakfast was delicious and made to order each day. Hotel restaurant served amazing food. Rooms were large. Staff was nice. Location was great: it’s a small town with grocery store and restaurants a minute walk away. Great jumping off point for exploring the Scottish Highlands.
Portree
A wonderful place, a beautiful view and a luxuriously equipped apartment. Definitely one of the best accommodations during our long trip across the highlands and islands. The price (compared to others in this expensive country) is absolutely right. Great host support via phone and email.
The facilities for children were amazing and the location of the hotel was great also. Breakfast was delicious every morning and staff there were very polite as were the staff, food and restaurant experience at the Highlands Hotel. The room was spacious, warm and comfortable also.
We were in a newer garden room which was large and had a patio. Car parking was very close to the room. Conveniently located for golf, the steam railway and views over the Highlands. Excellent restaurant called Anderson's just up the road. Hotel restaurant average
Everything Loch Shiel Hotel had to offer was perfect for our visit to this area. The proprietors couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. It really is the perfect place to stay to enjoy the Highlands and to be able to relax and take in the rich culture they have to offer.
Absolutely loved our stay for a few days I was in need of rest & relaxation in the Highlands & this hotel was 10/10 my dog Coco loved her stay also, super dog friendly. Will be returning again soon. Highly recommended & the breakfast is delicious 🤤
