How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The property is not a hotel and has short staffing hours. After hours (6 pm) check-in procedures could have been clearer and lighting better to operate the key boxes. While fully practical, the room was rather spartan in feel, as was the area leading to it. Access to the bathroom was awkward and neighbours’ noises very present. The common areas were the most pleasant, but as I was not interested in self catering, they were of no use to me.
The property is in an interesting neighborhood with easy access to the historic centre. A good selection of individual shops and eating / drinking venues.

Two short staircases to be tackled to reach reception with your luggage. My room was quite dark but I faced a courtyard and was on the first floor. I’m told if you get a higher floor it is lighter…makes sense.
Clean, homely, basic accommodation. Friendly staff. Great cleaners, room freshened up every day. Self catering kitchen. Really easy to get to all main tourist spots. Quiet.

There is no ventilation apart from the windows in the rooms which can lead to a noisy working environment due to the outside noise.
Very good value for money in an amazing location. Even though the WCs are shared, there are many on every hallway and as such, I never saw other people using the one directly opposite of my room so it was still private. The rooms are comfortable and have everything for a nice stay - enough hangers and space for personal items, a modern shower and vanity mirror, good wifi and comfortable beds. The staff were also very friendly and nice.

Heating in the room could be warmer in the evening time. The pension is a little overpriced. In my opinion, the fair price could be in the range 65-75 Euro per night.
Perfect location: within walking distance from "Rathaus" metro station, from Rathaus, Heldenplatz, Ring, Museums quarter, etc. Many cafes and restaurants around. Josefstadt area is interesting by itself. The room is of good size, comfortable beds, hospitable and helpful staff. Very calm, because the window was facing internal garden.

They dint have easy entry and have stairs. To carry luggage was a task by itself.

I had never stayed in this kind of a pension, so I was pleasently surprised. A fridge on each floor for the guests, breakfast room with cutlery, toaster and a coffee machine operated by coins. Everything was in order and a supermarket nearby. Lovely old building. Will recommend to everybody.

Could be a little cleaner.
We really enjoyed the fact that it was located close to the Rathaus of Vienna and the Christmas Market of course! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and confy. A good value for money option when in Vienna.

Hard to find the apartment location after the staff off duty at 6pm. The elevator is very small, only allocate 1 person and 2 luggages, we have to take turns to take the lift several times.

Huge room with lovely big ceilings and windows. Very clean. We literally just used it to sleep but it was really big and livable. Super quiet and so importantly in January it was really warm and cosy which was so good because I was worried about being cold. Staff were easy to contact on booking.com and we had a brilliant stay thank you
