Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThere was a stain on the carpet of the room where it looked like someone died. Peeling paint and outdated features. Free breakfast was just instant coffee, bread and corn flakes. Can’t really rate the staff because we didn’t meet anyone. I wanted to store my bag here but didn’t really feel comfortable just leaving it in a communal living room with no one there.
Close to transportation. Other guests seemed nice enough. Check-in was smooth.

United KingdomIt was less heritage than we expected and more functional. It isn't a typical 'cosy' B&B and has a hostel feel (which isn't a problem as long as you expect it). There are no staff on site apart from housekeeping doing daily cleaning and changeovers. It was noisy on Friday & Saturday night with younger guests getting ready and returning from nights out in the city. Some guests were very inconsiderate in the early hours. On Monday and Tuesday it was totally quiet, so maybe bear this in mind according to your needs, especially if there are big events in the city. I think my only gripe was that there were too few hooks or shelves to put belongings while using the shower rooms or toilets. You have to take a towel with you from your room, and only two large towels were provided for our 4 days, a hand towel would have helped. I hope I come over as helpful rather than critical, as this was an ideal place for our short stay, and very good value.
We wanted to stay in accommodation that wasn't a super-modern tower block in the CBD and this fitted the bill at a good price. It was originally a doctor's house and retains the heritage exterior and tiled entrance hall. Communal spaces are modern and functional. It is in a fairly residential street, very convenient for transport and local shops/restaurants/pubs. We liked the neighbourhood feel and convenience. It was easy to get into the city by bus, with easy credit card tap on & off. We walked over the harbour bridge to the opera house for a pleasant 1.5 hour stroll. The room wasn't huge but we have paid more for less space! It was clean and comfortable, and by having seating areas available in both an indoor dining room and outdoor (covered) space, as well as modern kitchen facilities, it felt quite spacious overall. A kitchen cupboard is provided for each room, and there are post-its to label your food in the communal fridge/freezer. The complimentary breakfast of cereals, milk, and bread for toast was perfectly adequate - we could buy juice and anything else from local shops. The bedroom had a/c that was easy to figure out, a small fridge and a blackout blind. The communal bathroom facilities were clean and looked recently installed.

PolandIt's quite far away from a subway station. Also booking.com provided information that free breakfasts are included however in catalog that I found in my room this proved to be wrong.
Room was very clean and even bigger than I thought. AC was working really well. Neighbourhood was really quite.

AustraliaThere's not much that I didn't like to be honest. The room was a little small, would have been nice to have a seat in the room. The side of the bed is against the wall so it was a little uncomfortable for two people.
The building and gardens were beautiful and very well kept. Nice and quiet. The ability to book parking. Very clean facilities. We loved the outdoor patio seating, it was a great touch. Good location near to north Sydney station and some lovely cafes in walking distance.

AustraliaThe shower head is slightly loose, doesn't stay upright unless water is on. Pull out sofa was quite hard and seemed to have a beam sticking up in the middle of it. Otherwise, we had no issues with the property.
Very cosy, yet not a cramped feeling in the studio. Still enough space to comfortably move about. Very easy check in/ check out process. The nature of the lodge feels very homey, unlike a hotel that follows stricter procedures. Nice facilities, good air conditioning and included breakfast was very helpful during our stay.
