It was a bit difficult to find the reception to check in because you have to go inside the restaurant and ask to check in. The public car parks are located outside the town and cars are not allowed in the town, so there a bit of a climb to reach the hotel from the car park.

The hotel is located on the main street of the town. The room we got has a view on the main street on one side and a view on the valley on the other side. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

While I slept, I felt the cold, so the only negative was the temperature of the room. Maybe it was possible to regulate the temperature, I don't know. For the rest, very good.

A very cosy hotel, very central, very warm. The room was clean, with enough space for two people and for a short stay. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant, just a small snack, and we enjoyed it very much. The staff was very friendly, they allowed us to check in earlier and on departure they kept our luggage for us. A pleasant experience, which I would definitely recommend.

The reservation process was a bit complicated and we did not really get what we reserved. This may be the fault of booking.com and not the property, so take with a grain of salt.

While the room itself was spacious and had a stunning mountain view, I encountered an issue with the shower's sliding doors, which didn't close properly. I ended up checking out a day earlier than planned. I understand the policy of paying for the full stay, but it would have been appreciated if the hotel could have offered a partial discount.

Our room was incredibly spacious and offered a breathtaking view of the mountains. The hotel is perfectly situated in a great location.

We arrived in the end of the day, during the dinner, and since the reception and restaurant are in the same place, nobody from hotel approached us to give any information about the check in. We walked through the hotel looking for information, with the luggage and nobody showed up to help us. The staff could've been more kind and friendly with the guests arriving. Understandable they are busy with the restaurant, but could've given us some information where to wait, something like that.

Hotel location is amazing. You'll stay in the heart of Gruyere. Breakfast was good and the staff during the breakfast and checking out was very kind and helpful.

Rooms should have air-conditioning. It was very hot (July). Breakfast was lovely but there were not enough measures to stop flies coming in.

Due to a heat wave, air conditioning would have been welcome. But the staff provided us with a fan, which really helped. We understand that this type of historic hotel is not suited to modern type air conditioning.

Location, location, location! Hotel de Ville has an absolutely fantastic location in Gruyeres. And the view from the room's window is fantastic!!
