“We were recommended to stay in this hotel by some friends who had stayed here before. We were heading from Burgos to Madrid and stayed for one night en route. It's location in the plaza mayor of a village was great, once you'd navigated the small side streets to get there (we were in a car). The hotel is very traditional inside, but the room was modern (if a bit small), as was the bathroom. It was satisfactory for one night, but I'm not sure I could have spent a week there. The hotel has a bar but we chose to sit out in the square and had a drink and pintxo from another bar there. There were several choices for breakfast the following morning, but we just had coffee/tea and toasted bread and jams, which was very good. The town of Santo Domingo de Silos is also famous for its association with The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, as filming of the final cemetery scene is a 10 minute drive out of the top of the village, so that was an interesting addition to the stay.”
