Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNice to have breakfast included but it's frustrating when it starts about 9!! No effort to arrange a self serve when we said that was too late.
A very historic yet comfortable hotel right in the middle of town.

United KingdomThere seemed to be just one younger person running the front of desk and breakfast; very efficiently I might add. An older lady seemed to be trying to help when she was elsewhere, but didn't understand the Booking.com online booking I'd made, and ended up giving us the wrong room twice. Not necessarily a problem but when you're lugging a heavy suitcase up and down several flights of stairs, the Fawlty Towers-ness of it stops being funny! It's a good job that we didn't initially unpack anything. Additionally, there weren't many sockets in the rooms that we'd been in and out of, so charging phones etc. required some planning.
We were recommended to stay in this hotel by some friends who had stayed here before. We were heading from Burgos to Madrid and stayed for one night en route. It's location in the plaza mayor of a village was great, once you'd navigated the small side streets to get there (we were in a car). The hotel is very traditional inside, but the room was modern (if a bit small), as was the bathroom. It was satisfactory for one night, but I'm not sure I could have spent a week there. The hotel has a bar but we chose to sit out in the square and had a drink and pintxo from another bar there. There were several choices for breakfast the following morning, but we just had coffee/tea and toasted bread and jams, which was very good. The town of Santo Domingo de Silos is also famous for its association with The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, as filming of the final cemetery scene is a 10 minute drive out of the top of the village, so that was an interesting addition to the stay.

PortugalThe bathroom was not entirely clean - bidet was clearly overlooked, had some long hair on it. Also the pillows were not exactly comfortable. However the staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

GermanyA really old-fashioned (in the best sense) hotel in traditional style. Cosy rooms (not roomy), two floors to climb without elevator. Perfect location - you cross the road to hear the vespers mass in the convent and return to a very good evening menu in the hotels restaurant. It helps if you understand some Spanish. Traditional breakfast served (no buffet), red wine included. If you like your evening stroll through the village after dinner - say hello to the friendly tomcat at the end of the marketplace.

United KingdomThe only slight issues, but wasn't a problem really, was that we did miss the fresh bottles of water for the rooms for the rest of our stay and on returning to the room the evening of day 2 the toiletries had not been replenished/the bathroom bin had not been emptied but we was too tired to go back down to reception and it wasn't that much of a complaint really, just more of a bit of a niggle.
On arrival the Hotel did not disappoint, it was just as pictured in the images advertised. Check in went very smoothly and as we ventured up to our rooms the rest of the Hotel was amazing, lots of history, pictures, dark wood, superb glass above the enormous main door which has the best view from the 1st floor. And the room itself, wow, what a room! Extremely clean, comfortable and tranquil, we even had water and sweets left for us and there where toiletries in the bathroom too. Wasn't much choice for us on the TV but we didn't really need it, just listening to that quietness overnight and the slight noises throughout the day was enough - best noises in the day time was from the eagle above!! And the breakfast, everything was so fresh and tasty, we got lots of nice items to pick from and the fresh orange juice was lovely, and the coffee was also very nice - this certainly kept us going all day long! Lots of lovely cold wines available, and their Gin was yum! Unfortunately the 2 nights we stayed there we drunk their fridges dry of the bottled lager, but did taste extremely good! Massive thank you to the manager Emeterio and his staff for looking after us so well x

FranceNothing ! I imagine though that the lack of lift (normal in such a building) can be a problem for some people who have to carry their luggage up the beautiful central staircase. It was not a problem for me.
Fantastic location, superb building (17th C, I think), comfy room with a view on the square, lovely village with superb visits to make (the roman cloister being a must of course, but there are many other things). The hotel is full of charm and atmosphere, old-style (which to me is great). Service is good, people are pleasant and attentionate. Dinner is very good (special mention for the suckling lamb) and so is breakfast. In short, a great stay and experience and I will return, I am sure.

United KingdomWe are really pleased we chose this place out of all the similar options nearby. It is right in the centre of the square and the second we walked through the door we felt very welcome. The staff were all super friendly, with a particular mention to the hotel manager who gave us a lot of information on our visit to Sad Hill and other lesser known locations of The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. The room was perfect for us, with a very comfortable bed and shutters which blocked all the light. It was very quiet at night and the radiators kept the room warm and cosy. Breakfast in the morning was wonderful too. Needless to say, will certainly be back! Gracias!

United KingdomFinding this part difficult to complete. The staff mostly did not speak a lot of English, which some people might find a problem, but I was glad for the opportunity to practice my Spanish. Communication was not a problem.
Location is fantastic and our room had a view of the monastery which we visited. The cloisters at the monastery are brilliant. The hotel was quite traditional but with modern bathroom. Had a lovely evening meal there and breakfast (which was included ) was really good.
