    It was hard to find

Despite being by the roadside it still has a charm. Clean and neat with all you need from an overnight Camino stay.

Traffic was noisy, but okay with the windows shut.

Off the path a bit requiring a hike through a field. The accommodation was nice, and though there were limited food choices, the staff provided a great meal. The location on a busy road made it a bit noisy.

Enjoyable stay in a simple pension with good cheap food

Nothing really matched our expectations for a Pension

A little pension just off the Camino, very convenient down a farm track, the menu was simple but more than adequate and the staff were very friendly, has a nice bar and a big dining room and the rooms were big and comfortable. The Pension also has a small supermarket attached to the bar for urgent supplies. The menu is hand written by the owners and consists of a good selection but has to be ordered as it is freshly prepared.

It's on a busy road, which is also the shortest way to Santiago.

Spacious and it feels brand new. There's also some quiet roads linking it to the Northern Camino.

The room was very cold and the walls between the neighbour's room was paper thin, so we did not have a quiet stay. Dinner food was not interesting and needs some improvement. Wine was very good.

Clothes washing facilities could be cleaner. Found bits of grass in the sheets, making me think that they hadn’t been washed. Dinner choices were limited and only OK.

Located off the Camino de Santiago, but staff provided good directions for the short walk there. Natural, semi-wooded area. Handy store on site.

One of the two place on the Camino we stayed twice!

Maybe because of COVID the menue for dinner was rather short (but food offered was excellent). In 2018, we still had a very nice home-made full-menue for all guests - not this year. Also the rooms suffered a little. A bucket of white paint is needed to cover the stains on the walls (e.g. where suitcases hit the walls) - some renovationwork would do good. We fully understand that COVID must have been very painful for the owner of hostels as utilization rates have be low for a long time. But that would have been also a good time to do some renovation work - which obviously was not done. We saw the difference between 2018 and 2021. For someone who visits Casa Garea the first time it may not be visible.

It was our second stay at Casa Garea - subsequent to our first Camino in 2018. The location is not exactly on the Camino, but it is on the other side not causing extra meters. Casa Garea is a nice place and the host tries to make you feel good. The room (same room for us as before) is equipped with everything a pilgrim needs, is clean and quiet. Bathroom is also fine. When back on the Camino, we will book Casa Garea again!

The property looks like it has been renovated. The wood is beautiful. In the evening they started a fire in the small fireplace, which was wonderful. The meal was great.

Dinner options were very basic (soup was basically packaged noodle soup with nothing but noodles and broth when I expected a hearty vegetable soup). As this hotel is slightly out of the way, it would have been nice to have better dinner options. I will say the woman working the room worked very hard - she seemed to be both the waitress and the cook. It’s also right on the highway so very loud with trucks passing st all hours - not much can be done about it but I likely wouldn’t stay again because of this

Staff were very pleasant and hard working.

On the freeway, so it was loud. Walls very thin or did not go completely to the ceiling, so you could clearly hear the conversation of the room next door. Our sheets were damp. We asked to eat when we arrived and he told we could eat at 7:00. Then when we came for dinner at 7:00 the younger gal told us no-we had to reserve a spot. Nothing was said to us, nor was it posted online or on the walls of the establishment. We were no where near any other town or restaurant and there was no way to cook any food. With their location, they should make it clear to guests.

They had a grassy area in back, which was nice and tables outside to play cards.

The owner called me the evening before to make sure I can find this place. It’s about 300 meters from the trail and about two km from Arzúa. They have a mini store and also option to buy dinner. Huge area for hanging washed clothing. Nice huge yard.
