Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Location, used as a night stop when travelling from North of Madrid to Granada. Easy reach from motorway and free parking. Great staff.

FranceIn spite of what one would expect from "castle walls" sound insulation was non existant. You could hear a pin drop (or worse) in the adjoining room. The wooden stairs leading to the upper sleeping area definitely need a hand rail.
Comfortable room with unusual duplex two storey design. Imaginative use of existing castle elements to provide atmospheric environment.

JerseyIt was quite difficult to find the entrance to the Hotel and the staff were not overly helpful. The bedroom was on a mezzanine floor and having to come down the staircase at night to use the bathroom was a little daunting.
Okay for a one night stay on the way back north and the evening meal was nice

United KingdomDifficult to find even with the SatNav as streets are closed at certain times of the year. The hotel was a fort and interesting. The beds were not to my liking and don't even think about booking if you are disabled as the rooms are on 2 floors with the shower room and toilet on the ground floor. Going down the stairs are dangerous in my opinion. In saying that the staff were very helpful and the simple breakfast very good. The evening meal in the dining room was also very good.

What a treat - a fabulous stopover en route to France. Big comfy beds and an amazing restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. A basic choice for breakfast but each component was of the highest quality, delicious! Our room was huge - two lounge areas and a very comfortable bed. All in all a great stay - thank you !

United KingdomSound proofing between rooms was problematic. The restaurant food was a bit disappointing. The fact that you had to wait until 9pm when you had been on the road was not ideal, and when it did arrive it was essentially bar food which was overpriced for what it was. Breakfast too could have been more generous ie more coffee and choice of food. For such an amazing building we felt the food let the overall experience down.
Amazing, iconic 12th century castle. great atmosphere and character, friendly, bar served incredibly local wine, relaxing and ‘something different’. bathroom facilities were very good. Free parking was a bonus.

United StatesAir conditioning units did not function, and the rooms (especially the lofts) got uncomfortably warm during the night.
Really fun hotel built into a historic castle, with a solid restaurant/cafe on-site. Rooms were large, interesting, and well furnished. The castle itself was fun to explore. Located in a quiet, safe part of Manzanares.

SwitzerlandFriendly welcome to the hotel and attentive Service at dinner (Manuél speaks English!). If you are looking for something different this is certainly a good option with the castle being the hotel one is staying in. Good price/value. Not recommended for guests with limited mobility as room has stairs. Great food at higher pricing than the average Spanish restaurant.

NetherlandsHeating didn't work which was unfortunate because the evenings started to get colder in November. It was also hard to find the main entrance, make sure to enter through the restaurant's door.
We were looking for a nice quaint hotel to break our journey from Cordoba to Alicante and this one popped up on Booking. We didn't expect it to be this rustic but it surely was a nice experience! It it very basic in everything but we enjoyed the authentic feel to it. Yes the floors were creaky and you can hear your neighbors chatting but that's kind of part of the deal if you go for an old castle in this price range. We don't really eat breakfast so a tostada with marmalade was enough for us.
