Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomRoom description said it had a washing machine, it didn't. I booked this room because after 5 weeks of walking I wanted to wash my clothes before going home. When I asked the management about the lack of washing machine they just told me to go the launderette. They made no apology and did not offer to cover the cost. It seems to me that they don't care about customer satisfaction but are very happy to charge high rates for rooms/facilities that don't match their description.

NetherlandsI reserved through Booking.com a bedroom with balcony, ocean view and two single beds. One day before my arrival, I got a message, telling that there was only a double bed available in a room with balcony. I answered that I needed 2 single beds, but it seems they did not read my answer. When I arrived, after telling them (again) that I needed 2 single beds (as the ones I booked), they placed me in another bedroom, without balcony. This should not be a problem, BUT: The price for that bedroom was 10EUR cheaper and the lady told me that I had to pay the same price as I booked for. In summary: I reserved a 85EUR bedroom with balcony, I got a 75EUR crappy bedroom with no balcony, but had to pay 85EUR. I tried to discuss it with the lady there, but she told me to cancel my booking in Booking.com. I told her I could not cancel, because it was a non-refundable one, and she just did not care. The worst customer experience ever! Apart from that, the bathroom was smelly, the sink drain was clogged and the bedroom was dirty. I would strongly recommend you to check other albergues, instead of this hostel.

I think, for this money it would be nice to have one refrigerator and own hair dryer in the room. The staff doesn't speak any other language, only spanish.

LatviaFrom first sight - the name on the front wall. It really doesn’t match what you get inside! This is the time, when first look and impression are completely different from what you get.
Stuff was great and welcoming! Rooms - fantastic. As per us - nice view, we had experience when we can say - we saw how is real life around. We stayed 2 nights, we been to the beach, no sand after us. 😍 We got all necessary amenities (great quality!)🥳 Thank you so much. 🔥🔥🔥
