Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesBeautiful location above the old town. The property has a nice restaurant. Be sure to book in advance. It’s a little bit of a walk up hill from the funicular but you go through old Roman ruins. The pool is nice but small.

New ZealandI wish I had booked a much longer stay in this heavenly hotel.
I don't know where to start ... our stay was close to perfection: an amazing location, an exceptional site full of history and character, which has been revamped and tastefully decorated. The food was delicious, the drinks and wines were tasty, the swimming pool and spa were spaces of beauty and relaxation. I can't but sing the praises of the staff, who were professional, helpful and absolutely lovely. Attention to details and excellence "à la française" were the key words I would use to describe an enchanting stay whose memories I will treasure forever. It deserves a fifth star.

United StatesThe faucet of sink, shower and the tub.
It’s located in a beautiful spot. Being converted from a 18th century convent to a 21st century hotel must not have been easy. For instance, my shower, sink only had very hot water which made it unusable. The faucet at the tub was very hot also, so I had to turn it off and on to get usable bath water. The safe did not work either. I think it is still one of the loveliest hotel I have stayed.

FranceThe former monastery invites us to its fantastic environment. The hotel is located high above Lyon and invites its guests to a beautiful area. The hotel is renovated with its historic and exciting story and kept its character. The rooms are named after celebrities from Lyon.

FranceWe would have liked a kettle in our room, although the staff were helpful in bringing us pots of hot water on demand! We were a little surprised by the size of the spa, we thought it might have been a little bigger.
The room was clean and comfortable and the hotel building is very beautiful. The pool and small spa facilities were a bonus.

FranceThe spa was smaller than expected and very crowded as it’s available without reservation and the outside pool wasn’t heated enough.
The room was comfortable and spacious with high quality furniture and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was really good with a good value for money and a large diversity of food options. The hotel is beautiful and very calming.

GermanyThey were slow on refilling breakfast food, so had to wait for all items to eat or go up and get it as soon as you saw them refill. Showers were nice, though it was not regulated temperature as it had spouts of really hot then back to warm.
The layout of the hotel is very interesting and worth it to stay in the building. Close to city center, though must walk up and down a lot of hills. Hotel staff was very nice with 24/7 front desk. Large parking lot and they give you an exit ticket that expires at 1800 on check out date so you can still explore the city. 2 electric charging stations for vehicles.

United KingdomThe pool was a little cold and there was nothing in the room to indicate what treatments were available at the spa.
The building, jacuzzi and steam rooms, bar and restaurant space were beautifully designed with a calm peaceful atmosphere worthy of its previous life as a convent.

AustraliaMy shower never heated up - which I thought was taking the convent experience to another level! Seriously though, they said it had happened in a couple of rooms and seems like a pretty big oops for a high end hotel. Would have been even worse in the dead of winter. Ordered some pome frites (fries) at the bar and they were so loaded in salt they were inedible. Aside from those things I really loved the place.
Fabulous location for me but be warned it is not for people who want to explore the town but can't manage hills or stairs. The building is wonderful but the rooms are a little 'convent-like.' Very simple and no fridge or kettle but totally adequate other than that. Breakfast is great.
