“I went for the history of the building (and institution) and was not disappointed by the faded elegance of the building and rooms. The staff were lovely - let me check in early, kind and friendly all around. The downside were the facilities in the room: the bed springs were pointy (generally very uncomfortable), the windows didn't open and there was no air circulation system nor fan (on a very hot weekend), there walls were thin (thus a lot of noise with people coming and going in the night), and there was scaffolding up outside, which is not a problem in itself, except for the scaffolding alarm went of around 3am and stayed on for at least an hour. All in all would recommend for the experience but not for the sleep.”
“The breakfast was great. Lots of choice well cooked. It was very busy. Top tip when you check in the staff will asked you what time will you want breakfast. It's not an approx time. This is made as a booking so you must attend at that time or wait in lounge until a table is available.
It is well placed to stay in town as it's very central. Modern feel inside..don't let the outside put you off.
The parking is £15 not £10 that some reviews say.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating.”
