Lovely traditional country pub, wonderful landlady, Sheila went above and beyond for us, driving us to La Manoir and sending someone to pick us up. Delicious food, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you Sheila

No hot water in the shower and no opportunity of breakfast, a must in a B & B. Surely the second B is breakfast.the 🤔🤔

The atmosphere here is brilliant! I was greeted at the door by the landlady who was super friendly and helpful. The staff were lovely, as were the patrons & I loved joining in the open mike that happened to be on :) My room had a great view of the garden & my bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was lovely!

The shower didn't have any hot water from the mixer bar, and apparently it does work but is very temperamental!

My freshly cooked to order breakfast was very well cooked and presented. I was asked on several occasions if everything was ok - which it was.

Lovely warm welcome. made me feel very much at home. Best Ham egg and chips I've had in a long time. I was just sorry they were fully booked for another night. on a personal note. The Wyndham Centre, Baldock. very much well worth a visit for health check and treatment.

There was nothing not to like. The owner checked us in out of hours. Showed us to our room with a four poster bed asked us what time we would like breakfast. So flexible !

I cannot praise the “Englands Rose “ highly enough. All of the staff were so friendly and obliging, the food , both breakfast and the evening meal were excellent as was the cleanliness of the room. An excellent place that we look forward to returning to,

The room was clean with a nice garden view and the shower is clean and refurbished. The room was cleaned and our beds were made every day. The towels were changed after 3 days although we did not request it. It is very quiet if you need to work. Sheila (the owner) runs everything with honest care and she is always very helpful

Listing not clear that this isn’t a functioning pub. Therefore had to go out again to get food. Listing also not clear that you pay extra for dogs. This is fine just needs highlighting. Check in felt uncomfortable as owner had not gone to bed - it was 7.45 the time we had said we were coming. Lots of road noise. Although clean the place appeared in need of an update.

Reasonably clean, well situated, one of the beds was comfortable, staff friendly.

From the moment I arrived I had the warmest of welcomes from Sheila, Pam and Luke. I was made to feel at home straight away!! Nothing was too much trouble, my room was lovely and by the end of my stay I felt like I’d made friends for life & I have. 😀 England’s Rose is a home from home and a great place to stay! 🌹

The location is easy to find, it's just along the road. The moment I arrived, Pam greeted me with a warm welcome despite I was wet and muddy from the rain as I am doing the Ridgeway trail. The cooked food was very delicious with a really nice presentation. I'm treated as if I'm like a family and not a guest. My room is comfortable and I slept like a baby. I like the design of the place, for me its very nostalgic. The next morning, Sheila cooked me a very good breakfast and offered me a ride back to my trail (It was a very nice gesture from her) I successfully completed the trail and staying at Englands Rose would probably one of the best highlights of my journey!

Really comfortable and friendly spot with fantastic food. We stayed one night and were treated to a wonderful dinner and breakfast. Felt like family! Dinner featured home made apple pie (So Good!) and when we complimented the chef/owner we were invited to pick our own the following morning from the big tree in the garden. As we did a beautiful deer approached from the nearby woods. Then the red kites descended for yesterday's scraps. That made the stay even more special.
