Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe cleaners would come into my room without knocking first to see if I was in or wanted my room cleaned. There were no signs to put on the door to say if you wanted not to be disturbed - that would be useful. The first day a young man did knock first but all the other days the other cleaners would just open my door and come in, one time walked right in when I was undressing! No knock at all just came right in. The outside area with chairs needs cleaning chairs were full of cobwebs, really old cigarettes and bugs and such in the ashtrays.
Bed was comfy, great location, good ensuite size, entertainment and bar on site was good. Room a good size set up like a Travelodge or Premier Inn bedroom very similar in style.

United KingdomThe carpets in the Snooker Room
The hotel staff are very helpful. It was great value as I only paid £38 B&B for one night. The hotel overall was in need of some renovation in the communal areas. However it did have some unexpected facilities ( full size snooker table, darts and giant Jenga ). Carpets were particularly old style. Overall I would recommend for the price I paid.

United KingdomDecor was a little dated but clean and tidy, the pool is no longer there which was on website but apart from that no issues.
Staff were accommodating where they could be friendly, helpful when asked. Moved rooms when I was struggling with mobility and distance to our room, requested a walk in shower and got one. Very helpful. We can honestly say we enjoyed our stay.

United KingdomRoom lighting in wringbplace. It just shone ip to the ceiling against the wall. No phone in roo for reception. Furniture a bit worn ton say the least but didn't look at it, it just caught my eye and I didn't want to notice it again as if wasn't pleasang Price acceptable
It was a good price. Difficult to give it a score. Reception ladies were very nice. The room had poor lighting I thought but I wasn't in it until late, then I was ready for bed. It had a buzzer from the kitchen which at first I thought may disturb me but it didn't seem to

United KingdomUnfortunately we were woken up from 5am on our first day by a coachload of people passing through the door outside our room and letting it bang every time! We reported it to reception and the door was adjusted before the following night. It may be an idea for the coach drivers to remind guests to bear this in mind on days when they are leaving early and I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem at all then.
Lovely old building from the 1800s and a huge room. Breakfast was fair for the price, the quality of the food was good and staff were very friendly and welcoming. Bar prices were reasonable, no worse than anywhere else and there were plenty areas to sit and relax.

Really attractive grounds and location- building is lovely and you can feel the history of the place. Friendly staff. Could definitely use an ever so slight bit of updating in some areas but nothing wrong with the rooms and overall really happy with our stay and have no complaints- would recommend and stay again ☺️

United KingdomHearing waiting staff having conversations with each other across the dining room Think theres a lack of experienced management on that aspect Having to wait excessive amounts of time for breakfast basics to be replenished Lack of place settings at breakfast, despite knowing how many people are in the hotel Overall appearance inside and out, appears to be run down and poorly maintained
Rooms were spacious, clean and tidy.. Bedding was clean and room serviced on a daily basis Ground floor room with French windows with a woodland view and visiting red squirrels

United KingdomWe had a 'yappy' dog in the room next to us on arrival. We have dogs at home so booked this knowing that there would potentially be dogs there. This was when the receptionist kindly moved our room for us which we feel was to a higher quality room also in just as good a location. We were only over for 4 nights property hunting but this made all the difference of a quiet room at the end of our busy days.
We loved the location and the atmosphere of this hotel. The staff were super friendly and helpful when we had a slight issue upon arrival. Breakfast was a good quality but a little more variety would have been perfect. The last 2 days we were there there was fruit and yoghurt as an option which was nice to have, but unsure why this hadn't been there on the 2 days prior. Even a toast machine would be good, or rolls and meat/cheese as a continental variety. We have noticed that this property is up for sale, and can only hope that this stays as a hotel in the future as if it had a bit of money spent on it I think it could be even better.
