Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBreakfast was dry and small portion. Not much else was wrong with the place to be honest. I'm being picky with the breakfast!
Fabulous stay, let down only by the breakfast to be honest. The room and the stay, the grounds, the tour, the staff - all perfect. We didn't eat dinner, we ate in the Town.

MaltaThe receptionist when we arrived was not very welcoming and was coughing that much that she couldn't talk. We noticed she was coughing later also and so was clearly unwell which did not make us feel very safe. There was a discrepancy in the information regarding check in time. This receptionist did not deal with this issue in a very friendly or professional manner. In the bedroom there was only one bedside lamp. I booked a massage that should have lasted 45 minutes, instead as she was late starting it, it lasted about 35 minutes. We booked a specific table for our evening meal. However, when we went for it there was already people sat at that table. The staff had not reserved the table and told us we would have to wait until they left. The menus for both Al a carte and the all day dining were very limited. Only 4 choices on the Al a carte.
Castle is beautiful, steeped in history and luxurious. The grounds/gardens are lovely to explore. Everything from decor to furnishings, bathroom products all very good quality. The suite we were in had good tea making facilities, mini fridge, bathrobes, slippers. There was a good turn down service. Very comfortable bed and quality bedding. We were given an upgrade. The staff at breakfast were attentive and friendly. The breakfast room is beautiful and so were the table settings.

United KingdomThis hotel is not suitable for small children as it is an adult environment throughout and small children struggle to behave in a way that doesn't impact on the enjoyment of others because there is nothing for them to do here. Every facility is designed for adult appreciation as you would expect from a Relais and Chateau Castle. This venue is all about its historical past and fine dining experiences.
Exceptional breakfast. Excellent food in restaurant. Lovely bar and library to relax in. We stayed in George V bed Chambers and it was absolutely stunning. The bed was so very comfortable. We loved every minute of our 2 night stay.

United KingdomService was very slow during both dinner and breakfast and not proactive at all. Doesn't match with Relais&Chateaux standards. Seems like they have lots of inexperienced staff as there were things that were simply not acceptable for this range of hotels. However, we still had a great stay, hope they will sort it out.
The hotel and room itself are amazing. There is a very beautiful garden to walk. The lounge room is a place where you want to stay all day.

United KingdomA stunning, luxurious and beautiful hotel. Quality and stylish interiors to a Tudor style - bright coloured tapestries and carpets, delicate ceiling and wall murals. Exposed stone walls and fireplace with deep window sills. Contemporary bathrooms with all mod cons. Clearly no expense spared in the latest renovations.

United KingdomBreakfast, not much choice and too small (pastries were tiny and you had to choose one!). This was a minor thing though, I just love my breakfasts and have had much better in other hotels.
Perfect hotel, complete luxury and wonderful Castle to stay in. The rooms are superb, luxurious, beautifully clean, quiet - we stayed in a Deluxe Superior (Mary Queen of Scots room), lovely staff, hotel is worth every penny and we didn't want to leave. Restaurant is 5*, most delicious meal we've had for years and great choice. We stayed for a weekend for our wedding anniversary having got married in the Castle 10 years ago. It was even better than we remembered, the rooms have been updated to an extremely high standard and is sheer luxury!

United KingdomMaybe the breakfast could be improved, it was A la carte, no hash browns - beans. But hey the Tudors didn't have hash browns or baked beans))))
The staff were amazing throughout our stay. when we checked in - Tom took our suitcases and put them in our chambers. We then had a quick briefing about the castle and the facilities etc Our Chamber was outstanding as was the whole castle. Some of the guests thought I was part of the castle team, because I was dressed up in my costumes. I also had pictures with various members of staff.
